L'Agence: l'immobilier de luxe en famille (2020)
This is not a review.
This is not actually a review. I just felt the need to say that Majo is LIFE GOALS!
I hope she lives to be 190!
I Care a Lot (2020)
A not too obvious diamond maybe?
I can understand the frustration expressed my many reviewers here. The movie makes it difficult to root for someone. To find the hero amongst the villains. Contrary to what most seem to think,I believe it was on purpose! During the film, while thoroughly enjoying the depiction of the main characters and the atrocities they committed, I was going back and forth trying to understand whom we are supposed to empathize with... the drug lord whose mother had been practically kidnapped or the woman who is trying to live her version of the American dream by kidnapping the elderly and stealing their possessions? Clearly neither, right?
In the end it made it even clearer by having the mobster realize the value of the grift she had set up and going into business with her. Then the ending brought it full circle and offered a kind of catharsis to the viewer which to be honest felt mostly forced so the viewer doesn't walk away completely frustrated with the plot!
I understand there are some implausibilities within the script and I am sure it's not as easy to steal someone's life as depicted in this movie but the guardianship issue does exist and if you take that into consideration then the movie is the equivalent of "Promising young woman", a dark thriller/comedy about the horrible problem in our society of how easy it is for the unscrupulous to take advantage of the vulnerable.
Special mention to the exquisite acting by Rosamund Pike. Not since the likes of Professor Umbridge, have I wanted to see a woman get punched in the face so much! (and I am a woman!)
Love, Guaranteed (2020)
Watch only if you can't be bothered to think through a movie.
I am not one to write bad reviews, but other than the chemistry between the lead actors, there is nothing redeeming about this movie. The plot is ridiculous, and there are plot holes big enough for Zorro to drive through! (You ll understand the reference if you see it). I finally gave up on it when the opposing lawyer made the case that if she fell in love with her client, that would break her case, because then the dating site would have been responsible for him finding love. Was it written by 10 year olds?
I am all for silly rom coms but at least try to make sense!
