Jaane Jaan (2023)
Good watch... Climax lacks a punch
The film is a good watch overall. The cast is stunning and did full justice to the characters. Character introduction is truly cinematic and the mystery behind each character is delightful to watch. What I liked particularly, is the production design and the cinematography. Albeit it seemed a bit too dark at times but that did not tamper with the taste of the movie. The story is good and the flow is even better. The connection between the characters and their interactions and relations did not seem offput.
While all the actors did an amazing job, Jaideep Ahlawat shone differently. He stole the show indeed.
The climax, however, failed to deliver the punch I anticipated going by the story build up. It lacked the 'thrill' being a thriller. It was flat and unattractive and totally pulled down the rating.
Why to watch -
Jaideep Ahlawat
Story
Why to skip -
Story loses the lustre towards the end.
Overall - Go for it.

An absolute 'massy' movie with a pretty basic story
The movie is made to entertain (totally) cinemagoers. There is not one moment without action and edgy BGM. Shah Rukh Khan, in a dual role, did not fail to deliver double entertainment. Nayanthara's character, Narmada, however, fails to shine as much. The cameos seemed apt. But when we look into the story, it is pretty basic. It is a larger than life revenge story with a very 'preachy' social activism backdrop. There are moments when the character Azad almost broke the fourth wall to send a message to the viewers. There are some pretty obvious character, costume and plot goof ups. The makers might have assumed that the viewers would not notice, owing to the high octane action sequences and music. One major thing I did not like about the movie is that a lot of ideas within the movie is 'inspired', rather than being original. A thing I liked about the movie is the BGM. It is quite appropriately put. Overall it is good watch if you are watching it in the cinema or watching it for the first time. I doubt it would deliver the same punch if you watch again.
What felt good
1. It is a Shah Rukh Khan movie (speaking as a fan)
2. Full of action and punch
3. BGM
What felt bad
1. Weak or just basic story
2. Character and plot goofs.

Poor research on subject matter
It is unexpected from someone who directed movies like 'Mulk' and 'Article 15' to deliver such a poorly and awfully directed movie. The movie missed the basic essence of Northeast India and focussed on a fictitious fact that all of villagers in the village are separatists. The movie also tried to draw parallels between the Kashmir issue and issues of Northeast India. Emotionally, the pain (of the common people) is relatable but there can be no relation in the political and administrative situation. The writers and creators blatantly portray the villagers as some ignorant hill dwellers who live in a constant state of anarchy and chaos. The movie neither addresses the insurgency problem properly nor does it make any effort to show the beautiful culture of the region. It is totally based on what a person outside of the Northeast thinks about the Northeast. It is the same bias. Before making a movie the makers must understand the story and the background of it. The makers here failed to just that.
Raat Akeli Hai (2020)
Gripping but a bit slow moving
I never saw the trailer. I only watched this movie because it has Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Radhika Apte and Shweta Tripathi together.
The movie will trap your attention and hold it for sometime but there are moments when you might feel, 'come on guys, get to the point'.
A two and a half hour movie somehow loses the thrill towards the end and the climax just thrown into the movie. It feels as if they forgot to write it at first and then wrote something at haste.
Overall a good watch. But if you're expecting a monumental something, I hate to break it but it's just a mansion.
