Intergalactic (2021)

I somehow binge watched it

It has a slow cringe start, with some exaggerated acting but it slowly picks up and a few episodes in - I am invested. The CGI is pretty cool for a small project that this is (I am assuming that it is small). There are some cringe scenes and shortcuts from a writing perspective that I hit you in the face, where I was like - oh god, they didnt just do that plot device thing and now it's hacked oh goood no. I think a little bit more effort should have been put into defining how things work in that universe. However, I closed my eyes and moved on and I don't regret it.

It has this British feel in it, it kinda reminds me of Doctor Who that also has some cringey and predictable writing (for me).

The lesbians are everywhere. I loved it. The show is pretty descent and entertaining after the first episode. Also I love Imogen Daines, I can just sit there and watch her and be entertained and happy.

A pleasant surprise

I was skeptical at first cause I usually don't like movies that take place so long in the past cause I find them boring and not relatable at all. Well this one hit home and I think it is really well made.

It is relatively fast paced.

It is funny.

It will make you cry.

The acting is so good, I would just pause to and go back to see some scenes again. I think this is the first time I see Suranne Jones. Boy, I could see what was going on in her mind just by looking at her face and and it felt so real and believable.

I give it a 10 cause I really liked the acting and loved the story. Also I think it's well written and shot, there isn't a dull moment.

Oh and the fact that this is based on a real story makes it so much more awesome.

Kate - the Violent Vengeance
15 September 2021
First I loved this movie and Mary Elizabeth Winstead's performance in it. I received what I expected which is rare and I think it was properly advertised for exactly what it was.

This was a simple, fast-paced, predictable action movie that I enjoyed a lot. It is trying to stay close to real world, there are no super powers or nano plot devices or made up conspiracy theories. The plot though is rather simple and is there just because we need one, we have the highly trained assassin, we have her target, and we know she is dying and on a vengeance quest, in Japan. It has a comic feel (which I loved) in a lot of the scenes and the way the story is told and it is quite beautiful I think. There are no filler scenes and you won't get bored (if you are in for the action), though there some cringe lines here and there but I can live with that.

One complaint that I have is that the movie is too dark at times and I couldn't see all the details but still enjoyed the action.

I found the movie quite entertaining and I loved every scene with Kate. There were 4 big fights and a few minor ones, so it was a ride, it was angry, it was violent and it was bloody and it kept on giving. There were a lot of great shots where I was thinking - whoa this looks dope.

If you like action movies with a strong female protagonist - this movie is for you.

I want more shows like this

I give 10 stars to shows, not because they are perfect but because they are well made and I loved them.

This show is not perfect. There are some cringe scenes and dialogues here and there that feel out of place or too fake. There are some events that don't feel believable, not the way they happened, like someone would say - you lied and that's it, everyone accepts this is the truth now, no trial, no investigation, the most powerful person surrenders power just because someone else said "you lied". Also teen drama is not my favorite anymore since I am kinda past that and well I now find it boring most of the time.

Despite all of the above I loved the show. All episodes had me interested at all times, I otherwise often struggle to keep my attention on what I am watching but this one was a breeze. There is always something going on, there are some twists and reveals here and there, the characters are not black and white and everyone is doing what they think is right. They are growing with each episode. There were some beautiful scenes with their powers and the effects were pretty nice. The world and the powers had some ground rules that made it work. They made somewhat "unique" fighting style that was visually pleasing (of course it was something that exists but it's not something you see in every other show so it was refreshing). And I loved following the relationship between two of the witches there, it's something I started watching it for and it was worth it.

I am sad to hear season 3 will be the last one, I am sure they will have even more epic scenes and story for it. I wish we had more shows like this one.

Edit: After watching the last season I dropped my rating a lot. Personally I was disappointed in the 3rd season, it felt rushed and boring at the same time. Everyone suddenly was an aunt on a Sunday that is making cookies, which is not bad on its own but was not what I expected from the show with the militarized witches fighting for freedom, the thing that hooked me in the first place. I might be a bit harsh with my rating, I realize people were trying to do what they can with that season and that was is my personal opinion after watching it.
