The Ark (2023)
Space Disaster Series
Saw the trailer and thought "this looks like my sort of thing!".
Started watching it and started to dread it. Came across as cheesy, poor acting, typical storyline and just plan eye roll.
Jumped onto here saw the reviews and thought... "another potentially good series... but not!"
Then I came across a review that said "give it a chance"... so, with nothing better to do or watch, go on then, I've now binged to mid episode 4, so pleased I did give it a shot. Actually enjoying it.
OK, so all the typical stuff is showing up for this sort of thing, such as problems after problems, characters with dodgy back stories, the amazing brain boxes that's save the day... then came in the PC brigade (eye roll) where the fact highlighting someone is "different" makes absolutely no change to the story line at all, so why mention it?
Oh well, that's the way it is these days.
But on the whole, yeah, really enjoying it. So like other reviews have Have said "GIVE IT A TRY" It's not bad once you start rolling.
Independence Day: Resurgence (2016)
Why all the negativity?
OK, so this film is not as good as the first, but then not many sequels actually are, but I did really enjoy this.
It's cheesy as hell, predictable, full of cliché's, one liners (from the original film) and leans very heavy on the legacy of the original... But why not, it's the sequel!
I wish people will stop taking films so seriously. If you want something serious and real, go watch David Attenborough Blue Planet or something. You want to lose yourself in some fantasy Sci-Fi that pushes the elements of reality to the boundaries and often beyond... Then watch Hollywood!
The baseline of the film is good, the story line works, the acting isn't the best, but still works. In my opinion, grab a soft drink and bag of Popcorn, sit back and enjoy. It's meant to be entertainment and I thought this film was exactly that. If you enjoy an entertaining Sci-Fi action film, then is will be enjoyable for you. Fast paced, lots going... and there is an opening for a Third!!! Fingers crossed!
The Guard of Auschwitz (2018)
Typical Low Budget
There are quite a few low budget World War 2 films and for some reason, they all feel the same... regardless of Country or Origin, Bad Acting, Bad Sets, Historical Inaccuracies and scripts that should have gone in the bin rather than into production. This is no exception.
Think there was only 3 or 4 scenes throughout the whole film. The actors act like they were on a pantomime stage rather than a film set. Everything was Soooooo slow as well, it was worse than bad.
Please, don't waste your time like I did, you'll never get it back.
