Fair Play (2023)
CALL THE POLICE!!
While I understand the attraction to this movie by many of the female viewers, I haven't seen one review that mentions the fact that Emily commited several felonies when extracting her apologies at the point of a knive. Luke should have called the police after the first blood was drawn and had her arrested. For me, it was difficult to tell which one of them was the true psycopath. Lots of blame to go around for both parties here. From crazy antics by him at the office to her hitting him on the head with a beer bottle and belittling him in very humilitaing ways. One of them should have had the good sense to see where this was going and left the firm or the relationship. Can I get my 2 hours back??
The Americans (2013)
Riveting....
Love the series! So well done in a 1980 period piece (gotta love those old cars... and look at the wall art in some of the homes!)
The feel for me is so much like The Sopranos....
*character development. *twists & turns. *having to watch it for a while until you fully understand some of the spy lingo and methods of dealing with various issues (after you understand, you're going "oh... this oughta be good!). *waiting eagerly all week for the next segment. *beginning to identify with the bad guys.
I wasn't familiar with any of the actors in the series but I've come appreciate the whole cast for their individual talents.
And while there's not explicit sex scenes, there is bold references to the use of sex by the spys to accomplish their goals.
I'm always wondering just how the writer know so much about the 1980s spy business.
Keep it going....I'd miss it too much if it goes!!!!
Monday Mornings (2013)
I want more....
This program has become my new Sopranos... that's the one I eagerly looked forward to the new episode all week long! I did some Google searching on the series only to find out that it has begun with sort of a "ho-hum" from viewers and critics.
I think the chemistry between the characters is in line with the likes of Seinfeld or, again, the Sopranos... and it hasn't really even had the chance to mature yet. The casting is great and the varied personalities and 'ethics' of the characters captivating. The M&M sessions (Morbidity and Mortality) are well done and I find myself thinking what I would do in the situation.
When I listen to what most Americans are talking about on TV (Idol, Housewives, etc) I realize this isn't going to appeal to the masses. I hope it can survive!!
