Age of Consent (1969)
What was James Mason thinking?
When he thought he could pull of an Australian accent?
I've always liked James Mason, always thought him to be a very good actor but the casting was so wrong. He must have been desperate for a job?
The credits gushed over Helen Mirren being a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company but to be fair, the job description was pretty much getting naked several times throughout the movie.
The storyline was rather weak, depressed artist wants to lose himself for a few months and whilst doing so discovers his muse in the form of a unspoiled young woman.
Throw in a mad grandmother, a perverted old drunk and a few other non characters and call it a movie?
The best part for me was Godfrey the dog. He was delightful especially when he came running across the beach and ........
not telling you what he does but it's so darn cute!
The movie is OK, but just OK in my opinion.
Other reviewer's have mentioned the location which is very pretty but not interesting enough to carry the film.
I suppose if your a guy and enjoy seeing naked women then you'll love it but for the more discerning movie fan it's very weak, something to watch when you are bored out of your skull, nothing else on Netflix and no where to go.
Noel (2004)
"I Love You ...."
just three little words, but these are the words that shine out of this movie for me like a beacon bringing the magic of Christmas into my home every year.
For Rose to say those words to a complete stranger, to ease their pain and loneliness at such a time when families are all uniting for the holiday's is what Christmas is all about for me.
Noel is a heart warming movie which makes you feel sad at times but by the end you are left feeling that everything is going to be OK.
Everyone has their cross to bear but for a few stolen moments in time, goodness and kindness reigns supreme and can make so much difference to someones life.
Robin Williams plays a wonderful role not dissimilar to his present circumstances which probably makes this movie more poignant to an avid Robin Williams fan as I am.
All in all a wonderful Christmas movie not to be missed.
Fear (1990)
Disappointing
After reading all the wonderful reviews I was really looking forward to watching this movie. Unfortunately I found the movie disappointing to say the least. We are told that Kayce had helped police many times in the past to catch serial killers, consequently she should know the kind of information they hope to get from her. Maybe I missed something here but at no point did I hear her mention the tattoo on his right hand? This could have been a fantastic movie, the storyline was great but too many holes were present. We discover to the end that the killer could not read her mind but that of the fireman who lived next door. How then was he getting inside her head? Remember he was getting inside her head before she met the guy next door? It would have been nice to see her learning to control her gift better too in order to fight him. There were so many possibilities for this movie, it just didn't deliver for me ....
Episode 50 (2011)
If you like Most Haunted and similar shows, you'll enjoy this.
The camera work was not bad for a movie probably made on a budget. The acting was pretty good as well to say they were mostly unknowns. I'd say the only down side was the ending which leaves you hanging. This is one of those movies you have to keep watching or you'll miss some action. The effects aren't bad at all. Good story line, not half as bad as some reviewers make out, put it this way ... I've seen a lot worse!!!!! Great locations, spooky enough to draw you into the ghost hunting atmosphere. A great movie to watch on Halloween as a taster for more scary stuff later on. There's no sex scenes, no nudity and very mild language compared to some stuff on the TV right now so as long as it's vetted first, older kids would enjoy it too.
