Chris D'Elia: Man on Fire (2017)
Mediocre At Best
The show isn't the worst I've seen but this is yet another mediocre comic that is overhyped for completely unknown reasons.
Shameless (2011)
Yet another preachy show.
The show started out great, but the latest season 9 feels preachy. Do we need another show that raises "awareness" about gay rights and the wage gap? Pretty sure the people watching the show are already "aware" of these things.
Amateur Night (2016)
More akin to a male fetish submission porno than a comedy.
I don't normally write reviews on IMDb but this movie was so painfully awful that I wanted to spare others from wasting their time and money.
The characters are 2 dimensional, the plot is almost non existent and 90% of the movie consists of 3 women treating a desperate guy like he is nothing, which i'm sure would delight most feminists and a few men that are into that sort of thing, but any normal human being would be bored to death.
I walked out of the movie half way in because there is nothing there to hold your interest either than some vague, poorly written plot. The movie really had no point or reason to exist.
High-Rise (2015)
Non-Sensical Mess Of Dream Scenes
First of all, I haven't read the book that this movie is based on so i was seeing it with an open mind.
The first 50 min were very interesting and I thought that I would be seeing a future cult cult classic like Clockwork Orange.
Unfortunately that wasn't the case, and while I was able to follow the story to a point, after about one hour i became completely confused and had no idea what was going on. I had to Google the plot to understand what i saw.
Why did the building descend into chaos? People from the top and bottom didn't like each other? Why didn't they just move out? The who, what, how and why do not seem important to the director and he seems more concerned with showing artsy dream scenes than with telling, what could have been a very interesting story.
There was no need for this movie to be made, and i saw no point to the violence towards the end. If you want to see arty cinematography then check it out, otherwise you would be wasting your time.
