The Walk (2015)
This movie really got to me.
This movie really moved me as I can't stand heights and my heart rate went up hugely as I watched the walk as it was so realistic. Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who speaks French fluently, was very good. The direction and cinematography were brilliant.
Copying Beethoven (2006)
Wrong actor
I liked the movie as it dealt with Beethoven but I think that Ed Harris was wrong for the role of the composer. Despite being an English language film I think casting an American as a German is wrong.
However, the scene featuring the Ninth Symphony premiere was magnificent.
Mother! (2017)
Loved Jennifer Lawrence - not so much the movie.
I love watching Jennifer Lawrence in any movie as I think she is a great actress. However, I have to say I think Darren Aronofsky is a little too bizarre as a writer although quite brilliant as a Director. I found the storyline quite unpleasant and I'm unclear what message, if any. the writer was conveying. Was it a parody of Christianity?
On the DVD is a documentary of how the movie was made which was very interesting.
Lawrence and Bardem were superb as they always are.
Milhwe (2014)
This series grabs you
I loved this series on Netflix. The tension caused by the two leading actors is fantastic. The clothing worn by Hui-Ae Kim and the luxurious surroundings are a sight to behold. it was lovely to see the politeness of Koreans which is similar to the Japanese in fashion. If you like classical music you should love this series as there is a good deal of it. I found Hui-Ae Kim very exotic and sensual as she learns to deal with her feelings. Ah-in Yoo is very good as the object of her fascination.
The Following (2013)
So stupid
I binged watched this series as it was quite exciting but it was absolutely ridiculous. The FBI and police were made to look ludicrous and incompetent just to stretch the story. So many things and behaviours were so unprofessional that it was just annoying. Some of the characters were so dumb that it stretched credibility. I can't believe there is a second series - not for me. The acting was very good on the part of James Purefoy, Kevin Bacon, Shawn Ashmore, Annie Parisse and Valorie Curry. It was the writing that made the story unbelievable and incoherent. Children should not be permitted this extremely violent series.
