Bowie: The Man Who Changed the World (2016)
Don't waste your time
A 90 minute documentary about Bowie where you hear none of his music. Just a bunch of people telling you anecdotes. Complete, utter waste of time. And it's 5 years old.
New Scotland Yard Files (2020)
Good but very repetitive
This is a very good series but very, very repetitive. This you can only assume is a time filling option by the producers. It's also very American, the assumption that after every ad break you have to be minutely reminded of all that went on before. The episode I watched tonight about the murder of a Sikh man was no exception, the same photograph of the burned out car in which he was killed was shown about 8 times during the programme. How is it I can watch something like 24 hours in police custody and not have constant recaps of what I was told 5 minutes before? It's infuriating and detracts massively from the programme. I think the series is produced by CBS Reality which I'm assuming is American and therefore we have to suffer this terrible format.
That said it's good to see how the detectives work and crack each new case.
Don't F**k with Cats: Hunting an Internet Killer (2019)
Tedious
The format of these American 'documentaries' just make you want to turn off. Clearly the Internet Detective people in the film work of some sort of script. This could have been over in one episode but they had to milk it. Compare this true life crime to say 24 Hours in Police Custody or Catching a Killer for an idea on how it's done properly. UK terrestrial TV has a lot to answer for sometimes but they can do a fantastic documentary. This Cat thing was just too annoying for words.
Murder Mountain (2018)
Repetitive. Sensationalist.
How this has been stretched over 6 episodes I'll never know. It repeats itself again and again and again... and again. The thing is it's really not very good either. There's a murder.. or three. But it's so long and drawn out (and did I say repetitive) that you just want to give up on it. Do yourself a favour and don't bother with this.
