Thus far, excellent!
This show is so promising. The mystery, the supernatural, the suspense.... None of the episodes have been boring. It is slow in revealing the primary questions, but it maintains the tension and the sense of yet undefined horror. I hope they keep that pace but reveal a bit more so that the audience does not get bored and tired of endless twists.
Both first and second season are very promising and keep you on the edge. They suck you in into the story. But the revelation of the mystery is getting a bit slow, unless they are saving it for the 3rd season. In that case I can just as well skip the whole 2nd season. I hope we'll get some answers, bcs they hide it like the snake its legs. They keep us in the dark.. but I don't know when this dark shall become tiresome and boring.
Silo (2023)
Curiosity killed a cat
This is one of those shows that start of well but then become dull. It is enough to watch the first two and the last two installments to get the picture. I find the sequels boring and lacking the juice to make me watch the in-betweens. This can drag on for forever. I was excited by the first two episodes but as the series progresses I have no interest in watching the soap opera. It is not bad, but the episodes lack the thill and the true sense of unknown. Will wait till the last episode since the narrative is becoming too prosaic and out right boring. The idea seems great, but the layout not so much.
Next Exit (2022)
Misleading
While it may be a mediocre existential drama it has almost nothing to do with sci-fi or mystery.
They say the journey is more important than the destination, yet in this case the journey was slow burning and boring just as the destination.
I was hoping this movie would be more in the realm of McDowell's "The Discovery". But it was not. This theme has already been exploited in many movies and TV shows so why they chose the sci-fi platform to tell a simple story that contained no exceptional emotional charge or identification with the protagonists is beyond me.
This is not a bad fim (drama), but also not a good one. For some reason I expected far more.
Don't Look Up (2021)
A sociological x-ray of the society
A fantastic movie. I've hardly seen anything that came out of the Hollywood that deals with the sociological, economical, ideological dogmatism that is so prevalent these days. It presents the Zeitgeist perfectly, the polarization, the corrupt dominance of politics, money and media superficiality. The comet is a metaphor for many dead serious things that plague our societies and threaten with a total annihilation that the 1% of the supper-rich can just easily survive. Great acting, some characters may be a bit flat, but great editing, cinematographically well done.
I really don't find any fault in this movie... if there are some, the narrative metaphor is far more important than the some faults in editing, which just may be intentional.
