Borgen (2010)
Today I need a break from Brazil.
I resumed the new season of this excellent political drama, which portrays the daily life of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Denmark. A few hours watching the serious work of a government that does not tolerate corruption or mimimi.
Shining Girls (2022)
At first it was very confusing.
With Elizabeth Moss, the June Osborne (OfFred) from The Handsmaid Tale and Wagner Moura.
At first it was very confusing. A serial killer? Multi Dimensions? Time travel?
But now in the 4th episode everything starts to make sense. And it's amazing to see a Brazilian actor shining.
Trust (2018)
It was a terrible event that I followed in the 70s.
I had already seen it in 2018. Then in the last few years, they added the entire last episode, showing what happened to the characters.
Sad that the kidnapped boy ended up overdosed 8 years after the events; blind and paraplegic.
The Invisible Man (2020)
Lost 2 hours of my life
The worst movie of the year. Of the year 2020. It is very strange that an actress as Elizabeth Moss lends herself to such a cliché. I lost 2 hours of my life.
The Americans (2013)
Based on real events of a Soviet family.
I finally managed to finish the 6 seasons of this series.
I really liked. Especially the end of the series.
Based on real events of a Soviet family.
It is interesting to weigh the conflicts of the American society on the dogmas of the Soviet society.
The Killing (2011)
The last scene of the series...
Last month I started reviewing "The Killing" for the 3rd time.
I love this series, and I like Mirreille Enos and Joel Kinnaman, the main characters, even more.
It was the 1st time I met these actors, who from this series onwards, became great stars of famous movies and series.
But for me, they will always be Detectives Sara Linden and Stephen Holder, who live in my heart.
Kinnaman is a former detective addicted to methamphetamine, but soon becomes the new Robocop.
The last scene of the series... I lost count of how many times I saw and rewatched it.
To the next!.
Sentença (2022)
Many times I had to stop to breathe
Anyone who knows me knows that I love crime thrillers. I come from all nationalities: American, European, Nordic. No problem.
But this one, being Brazilian, spent in São Paulo, got me down. I often had to stop to breathe. It's our reality.
Julia (2022)
To see Julia played by Sarah Lancashire was a delight.
Inspired by
I already knew the story of Julia Child and to see it played by Sarah Lancashire was a delight.
This actress was the protagonist of an Irish crime series that I loved: Happy Valley. Glad to see her success.
There are 2 bonuses: the making off transforming Susan into a Julia, almost 2m tall with a characteristic voice, and the montage of Julia's kitchen on the recording set.
Desalma (2020)
Overall it was very good
Watching the 2nd season of DESALMA, a Brazilian horror series.
I think the screenwriters went nuts, mixing Wicca with Rasputin of the Romanovs and even the poor Helena Blavatsky.
But let's go ahead because overall it's good. Fábio Assunção's character promises... The female cast, led by Cássia Kiss, who continues to shine. I finished season 2. A few scares and a lot of horror movie clichés but... as I said, overall it was good.
Now it's time to wait for the 3rd and final season and find out what Fábio Assunção is like as a centenarian wizard, condemned to live forever.
And knowing the fate of Cláudia Abreu's character, who seems to me to be the head witch of the area.
Besides, it's always good to appreciate Cassia Kiss's work.
A Discovery of Witches (2018)
The small details
I returned to watch the last episode of the series again, free from the adrenaline of the final fight.
This time I was able to pay attention to the small details: the villain vampire returning to his original Nazi doctor appearance (when he was transformed), the villain witch losing her powers, and the protagonist witch weaving the liberating spell with her fingers (I felt super represented, as I am a weaver myself). And renewed the emotion with the most charming vampire since Lestat de Lioncourt.
