Deadly Class (2018)
Mixed feelings
I like the idea behind this series and some of the acting is quite good. It is very far fetched though and tries to be " Tarantino " but there are some scenes that will have you rolling with laughter (the shart) and others that will turn your stomach! My favorite scene though is Fuck Faces song about shandy.
Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again (2018)
Not to be taken seriously
I don't understand why there are so many poor reviews of this movie! It's a musical... it's cheesy and corny and makes zero sense but my god!! What an emotional rollercoaster! I have been an abba head all my life, there is not one song that doesn't bring back some sort of memory for me because ABBA have been my own personal theme tune forever! When I was kid it was vinyl, as a teen it was tapes and then CD's and now obviously streaming but I never left home without my collection! My daughter is the spit and image of Sophie and I was a single mother so Sophie and donnas relationship is very similar to our own. When I saw the first movie in the cinema I burst in to tears from the very beginning and the scene where Donna helps Sophie get ready for her wedding just killed me! It was just so raw for me and I was imagining the day when I would be helping Chloe on her wedding day.
The second movie I was at the cinema for the opening day with my mother and my daughter in tow! I have terminal cancer and I had no idea they had killed Donna off so once again it was very raw for me! I spent the last 30 minutes of the movie making strange wailing sounds because I was trying not to ruin the movie for the other viewers! BIG FAT UGLY SNOTTY TEARS! Not just from me but from my daughter too! My husband has now put the movie on the banned list because of the way it effects us. I think when the time comes and I am gone this movie will be special to my daughter because of our shared memories.
Outlander (2014)
I am crazy (literally) about this show
I've been reading some of the negative comments on here regarding some of the more controversial subjects that are explored in the first season of outlander. I find it hard to swallow that people would give an excellent show like this a bad rating because they themselves find it difficult to watch these haunting scenes, what about the story? What about the acting? The chemistry, the sets, the attention to detail in the costumes, the amazing extras and sub plots and most of all the story line? The author Of this series is nearly in to 3 decades of writing this series (one reviewer accuses it of being fan fiction) and the author also works on set as an advisor. I think Sam and Caitriona have done a fantastic job of bringing Claire and Jamie to live in this adaptation and while the show is 95% accurate to the books there are one or two things that get left out but in most cases of adaptations this would normally be a 50/50 scenario. Dianas novels are MASSIVE! And in books 1-3 only 5% of the contents is drawn out and unnessary to the progress of the plot so hey... ye are not missing anything! As for the Rape scene and some of the violence being classed as unnessasary well I say to you... WRONG! It was done spectacularly and yes to see Jamie suffer at the hands of Randel was awful and traumatic but this experience changes Jamie and without seeing what actually happened these changes would not make sense to the viewer. As for the soft porn, Claire does say in episode one that herself and frank used sex as a bridge back to each other and the house keeper who read her palms basically said she was a nyphomaniac, Claire grew up with no parents and was constantly moved from one place to another with her uncle, she never knew love until she met Frank and she never made any real friendships... sex is all she knows. In the 18th Century a marriage was only confirmed once consummation had taken place therefore she had no choice but to have sex with Jamie after the wedding. Once married she did make an attempt to get back to the stones so she hadn't forgotten all about Frank who was "at home worried sick" but she did fall in love with Jamie and she fell hard! The novels explore the spark the two characters have for each other in more detail and both have never felt this kinda pull with anyone else. Another reviewer says they can't inderstand why Claire would fight for randals survival in order to save Frank but seriously why wouldn't she? As she says herself Frank is an innocent and it would be unfair to just snuff out his life because if frank wasn't to "be" then Claire would not be in Inverness to cross through the stones. And as for the battle of culloden, the battle is explored in far more detail in season 3 (which happens to be the best season also) so don't be fooled into thinking that something irrelevant has happened because it hasn't!! It will all swing back and it will make sense. Don't give up on this series and please god don't let these prudish 18th century "know it alls" put you off wanting to watch this series!! It is hands down the best series on TV and in my opinion it could give GOT a good run for its money.
