The Book of Boba Fett: Chapter 4: The Gathering Storm (2022)
Finally, a decent episode
The first 3 episodes have been somewhat lacklustre to downright poor in my opinion and this episode started off with more of the same.
The first 5 or so mins when Fett found Fennec in the desert were cool, then it kinda dipped with the cybernetic scene and when we got the 'comedic' scene with the bots (this episode's "chase" scene), I felt we were set to for another disappointing run.
Things took a upturn and when Fett & Shand retrieve Slave 1 and finally the "plot" seems to be coming together - I think!
Thank the heavens Krrsantan is back! Dare I say it, but this Wookie is waaaaaay cooler than Chewie! I can feel the hate & downvotes coming my way as I type that!
And right at the end we get a "Mandalorian" jingle while Fett and Shand are plotting their next move. That gave me goosebumps!
Dexter: New Blood: Runaway (2021)
The walls are closing in, or are they?
Yet another great episode and things are starting to come together, or are they? The original series always threw a curveball into the mix, just when Dex's number was surely up and I can't help thinking there's one or two to come here!
Harrison almost OD's at a party given in his honour, Dex tracks down the drug dealer and eventually, the maker of the drugs. He attempts to get back to doing what he loves, but is interrupted both times by Officer Logan and has to improvise to get away. However this is really just a side-story for the episode.
Angela visits NYC with Molly to confirm Kurt's story that his son Matt was staying at a hotel there, it's revealed some random dude was pretending to be Matt. Kurt has some explaining to do...
While in NY Angela & Molly sit in on a law enforcement conference, given by none other than Angel Batista, it was great to see him again! Angel talks about the Bay Harbour Butcher murders and tenuous links that helped "solve" the case!
Angel and Angela also have a chat after his talk and inadvertedly puts Dex in it! Angela discovers Dex's fake identity and his link to Trinity and I've got a feeling it won't be long before her digging reveals a tenuous link with Dex and the Bay Harbour murders!!
Kurt is officially revealed as the "Runaway" killer and as Angela now knows he's been lying about his son being in NY, a confrontation between the two is on the cards - I have to wonder if Angela's demise at his hands will be Dex's saving grace?
Dexter: New Blood: H Is for Hero (2021)
That smile...
What an awesome episode, best of the series so far.
There have been subtle nuances coming from Harrison all season that he's "not right" and I also believe he absolutley knows about Dexter's dark past and wants him to open up.
Harrison has been getting more edgy with each episode and after almost killing Ethan he has unintentially revealed a darkness in him, but it's not the same as Dex's "Dark Passenger".
Ethan hadn't actually done anything bad and this shows Harrison doesn't have Dex's code. He doesn't appear to have empathy for others and is more like a sociopath than someone who avenges bad deeds.
That smile when Dex found the blade was chilling, he's happy about this, but for how long?
Dexter: New Blood: Cold Snap (2021)
He was never gone...
I was a huge fan of the original series, even the weaker ones towards the end and I have avoided all trailers so I can go into this totally blind, was totally not expecting to see Debbie as the new Harry, but that was great!
Loved how they used Iggy Pop's "The (dark?) passenger" to open Dex's return and then the little visual hints and nods to his past life (tarpaulin, etc..). Very cool.
It's definitely an intro episode to cater for non-fans who haven't watched the old series, as well as die hards. They show how Dex has moved on with his life, while at the same time sending a nod that he's "not right" and has been suppressing his "passenger" all this time. Thought this was so well done.
Glad they didn't dally on revealing the old Dex, looking forward to the rest of this series.
War of the Worlds: Episode #2.8 (2021)
Decent S2 finale, lots of S3 hints...
Thought the "futures" were gonna stop Bill and was faily shocked when they didn't, didn't see that coming!
There were lots of nods to where they may go in S3, it seems like they've just hit the reset button on this. New timeline, Back to the Future of the War of the Worlds!
Others are getting the future echoe's now, then there's the book from the future with the workings.
Pennyworth: The Lion and Lamb (2021)
Alot happens - SPOILERS
ALOT happens in the finale - considering how excellent and well paced the show has been since s01e01, I'm not sure I liked this.
The general vibe and feel of the episode is much the same as it has ever been for the past 2 seasons, until around 3/4 of the way into the episode - then we get an end to the Stormcloud storyline, as the good guys prevail - or so we're lead to believe...
Then it just ramps up - In the final quarter of the episode, the following happens...
We discover the Stormcloud storyline hasn't ended and the heroes were duped, characters shift alliances, Stormcloud is activated and all hope is lost, Stormcloud is contained and hope prevails once again, Arthur tops himself, another significant charater "dies", there's a 6 month time jump, the Ravens attack London, "Bryce?" Wayne is born (that's not gonna go down well with the masses!), then just as the Ravens appear to have defeated London, Pennyworth and co show up to win the day, with a previously dead character as the series' first full-on "Super" now part of the team!
Whoa!
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier: Power Broker (2021)
This is more like it
Ep 3 is the best yet, it has a real spy feel to it much like the Winter Soldier movie. This ep has the show moving in so many differnt directions right now it's making my head spin. It all kicks off with Sam and Bucky joining up in a very unlikely partnership, I did not see that coming!
The guys head off to Madripoor (a big-time hangout for the X-Men in the comics!!) to follow a lead on the super soldier serum and they bump into an old ally on the way.
Walker works out what Sam and Bucky have done, where they went and heads off in pursuit, he's not happy. Can't wait for the clash when they all meet up.
We learn more about the Flag Smashers agenda and the reason they are doing what they do.
There's some great action scenes throughout before it all ends with yet another old ally turning up, but this one isn't gonna sit well with Sam and Bucky's new "friend".
Can't wait for the next one...
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier: The Star-Spangled Man (2021)
Viewpoints and Agenda's
We get introduced to a bunch of new characters throughout this ep, with individual character viewpoints and agenda's being the focus throughout. In general it's quite a talky ep, with a few action scenes littered here and there.
It kicks off with a parade for "New Cap", John Walker and a little background on his character and follows with Sam and Bucky finally meeting and somewhat reluctantly teaming up - their first attempt to stop the Flag Bearers doesn't go to plan.
There's a clash and a bit of tension between Team: Sam/Bucky and Team: Walker, as the battle for the rightful mantle of "New Cap" begins. We get viewpoints, regrets and arguments for and against from all parties.
We find out a little more about the Flag Bearers agenda, as seen from their standpoint and also see how dedicated their members are to the cause.
It all ends with an indication of something big about to happen next ep - here's to hoping...
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier: New World Order (2021)
Average opener
Opens with a decent action scene then reverts to a slow burner for the rest of the ep.
A few seeds were sewn for the direction it's gonna take, but really not alot happened in this ep.
For me, the end scene didn't really pack the punch I'm guessing they wanted it to.
The Flash: Grodd Friended Me (2020)
GroddSpeed
Barry/Grodd shoulda been a recipe for sure-fire success, but it was such a let down, especially the fight/escape scene.
Iris mirror story is draging, bored of it.
Evil Wells/Thorne looks like he's coming back - yay another speedster big-bad! Why!!
The show has been poor since Crisis.
