American Manhunt: The Boston Marathon Bombing (2023)
Most stupid and dangerous policing I ever heard of
This really scared me, not the bomber but the thousands of rounds that Boston/Massachusetts PD and other law enforcement units where just randomly firing into ppls homes in Watertown. It's incredible that those police rounds didn't kill more ppl than the bombers. Incredibly stupid, incredibly dangerous and totally mandboggling that this isn't what the documentary is about.
There are no more more dangerous humans in the US than the police.
They were trigger happy, they where using excessive force to an astronomical degree, they had thousands of ppl working on this manhunt but basically no plan or estimation of what could reasonably be respected from this situation, they where involving 100 times more assets in the physical hunt than they needed.
They locked down an entire million ppl city for no reason. They were working way to long, stupid from exhaustion, they were leaking sensitive info left and right...
And then it turns out the guy was unarmed, hiding like 100 m from where he dumbed his car in this little village where they knew he had abandoned his car....
The degree of incompetence is just beyond astronomical.
Really makes the actual bombing seem completely insignificant, no matter how hard the documentary filmmakers try to make it about that.
The Hunt (2020)
This is genius
It is. See it. You'll like it alot.
Pacing, writing, story, humor, morals, arc. It has it all in spades. IMDb require me to write more, actually 150 words or it's too short of a review. I'm gonna add that acting is amazing by all parties. And directing is perfectly suitable for the unfolding of this gem. It's great, see it. It's also not too long and leaves you with a good feeling. Good enough to spend time on reviewing it anyways.
