Sweet/Vicious (2016–2017)

MTV's Best Scripted Show
14 December 2016
MTV doesn't have the best track record for making good scripted television but Sweet/Vicious is very enjoyable and refreshing regarding the heavy topic matter. Sexual violence is an extremely serious issue and currently there is no show portrays what victims feel - rather only the legal aspects of the crime and maybe the psychology of the abuser. Sweet/Vicious brings a whole new dynamic to the topic and I personally enjoy that the show doesn't feel cold and matter-of-fact - you really understand the effects and most importantly, you actually want to root for the main characters, who are the campus vigilantes. The show does have it faults - the writing can sometimes be a little off and certain things can be set up better in terms of story development but I overall think the show is a fun time; it doesn't take itself too seriously - there are funny moments, dramatic moments, relatable characters and importantly, strong female characters that show their strength in various different ways. Sweet/Vicious is definitely something to look out for and possibly empowering to anyone who has ever been assaulted. Please don't dismiss this show in fear that it is only about misandry because that is far from the truth.

Love, Marilyn (2012)

Love, Marilyn? I do.
20 June 2013
Since Marilyn Monroe is one of my idols, I had to watch this documentary. I knew a lot about her already since she has been such a big part of my life but I was excited to see and hear Marilyn's own voice come to life in such a unique way. The movie takes you through the ups and downs of her life with commentary from great talents and other people in her life such as Milton Greene's widow, Amy Greene, friends and other actors/directors such as Jane Russell and Billy Wilder. I found myself crying throughout the whole documentary because we all know Marilyn's life was ended tragically but yet, everyone still sees her as just a sex symbol when really, that was the farthest from her real personality. Love, Marilyn takes you inside her mind by talents of this new era and it is thoroughly enjoyable.

I had fun at Jay's Party tonight!

I thoroughly enjoyed The Great Gatsby tonight. I had saw many lackluster reviews and complaints about the music not fitting the era but when I actually watched the film, it fit quite nicely because you still had the feeling of the Roaring 20's while keeping it relevant with artists like Lana Del Rey and Jay-z/Beyonce. The movie is visually stunning and the casting was well done for this movie. Leo DiCaprio couldn't have been better as Gatsby, I adore Carey Mulligan especially as Daisy Buchanan and of course Tobey Maguire was best as the main character, Nick Carraway. If you love films like Moulin Rouge, you'll love this one.

If you liked Thirteen, you'll like this one too.

I've been so excited for this movie and honestly, it was somewhat of a letdown for me. However, I enjoyed the performances and felt the movie was incredibly honest in it's delivery and believe that it's one of those movies you should see at least once in your life. The relatively unknown Rachel Korine was cute in the movie, Selena Gomez delivered a good performance, nothing too crazy like the others. I enjoyed seeing Ashley Benson in a different role other than Hanna Marin from Pretty Little Liars, Vanessa Hudgens in my opinion was absolutely perfect. James Franco as 'Alien' brings so much comedic spirit to Spring Breakers, he is literally hilarious. If you love Thirteen (2003), you'll love this one too.
