Chance in a Million (1984)
Superior sitcom
Quirky isn't really the word for this excellent, if dated, sitcom (I say dated because I'd forgotten how often Brenda Blethyn gets her it off, it was the 80's after all). Brilliant performances from the two leads, Simon Callow & Brenda Blethyn. You can really see the roots of other programmes like One Foot In The Grave etc in this. Currently (May 2022) being shown on BritBox, worth the price alone for this masterpiece.
The Stranger (2020)
Well acted and written drama
Lots of twists and turns throughout the series, great twists at the end of most episodes, superbly played by virtually the whole cast, 8 episodes just right in my view, well worth binge watching. I've seen a couple of reviews that didn't like the ending, I thought it was just about right, emotional, dramatic and a fitting end I thought.
The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
All time Great film.
I've read the short story by Stephen King, I've seen the stage play and, of course, I've seen the film, I would say this, read the short story, don't bother with the play but, whatever you do, see this film. It really is a timeless classic. Obviously the characters and time line are a bit out which is why it helps to read the short story but that doesn't detract from the film whatsoever, so well made and acted.
