Red Dawn (1984)
AFTER UKRAINE
This small budget film continues to endure. It's interesting to note how perceptions of this film change from decade to decade - and from generation to generation. Some saw it as fascist during the Reagan era. Gratuitously violent. Almost forgotten during Glasnost. Prowar and patriot during both Bush wars. Now it's going to be viewed differently after Russia's ongoing invasion & war crimes in Ukraine.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds: A Quality of Mercy (2022)
This is it!
The episode we've all been waiting for. It may be the best episode of any series I've seen all year. But it took 9 episodes of virtue signaling to get here. We're back where no man has gone before. A series with Kirk, Pike, Spock, Starfleet, a cloaking device - what Star Trek is suppose to be about!
Euphoria: The Theater and Its Double (2022)
Worst episode of series
I'm not interest in Maude Apatow as an actress. I'm not interested in Lexi as a character. I hate this story line. If you take out all of the above you have about ten minutes of a Euphoria episode - half of that was ok.
Inventing Anna: Two Birds, One Throne (2022)
"Tired Now"
Three episodes in and I'm already tired of Anna. Only hope Julia Garner's career recovers - 9 episodes with that grating accent is something that can haunt an actor forever.
Gossip Girl: Just Another Girl on the MTA (2021)
I don't like anyone so far
Not hopeful for this. I really don't like any of the characters. The main cast comes off as terrible people without any redeeming qualities - they are privileged without interesting personalities like the OG. I dislike the teachers even more and certainly don't look foreword to learning more about them.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: Chapter Twenty-Nine: The Eldritch Dark (2020)
Dear Film School
Please tell students, no more shooting episodes in the dark. If it Didn't work for "Game of Thrones," it's not going to work for you
Tiny Pretty Things (2020)
The best trashy, campy show since...
...Dante's Cove. Just what my tiny gay heart was clamoring for.
The Mandalorian (2019)
It's called "The Mandalorian" not "The Peripheral Female Chatxter"
This is really getting ridiculous. Pedro Pascal out as actor wants to show his face while creators want to shift focus to the female character
The Boys (2019)
How much do you want to bet that when "The Boys" returns, that it's all about the girls
And the Wookies have written every story line to show the women are really super, super-powered more than the guys - and outsmart them.
So tiring
The Order: Free Radicals, Part 1 (2020)
More of the same
Liked the first season but does every show now have to follow the trope women so smart & strong, men so weak & pathetic. Yawn
Jonathan (2018)
Cabdriver With Cool Psychiatric Skills?
I love psychological movies like this and don't want to give too much away. But what's going on in the final scene? Where does this cab driver come from? Are we suppose to believe this character is going to pull over on the side of the road and integrate his passenger's dissociative identity disorder? Wow, can he fix a flat and repair a Volvo at the same time? It makes no sense - especially to have introduce Patricia Clarkson's character as his doctor and just forget about her. Was she not available for the last week of the shoot?
