Carpet Cowboys (2023)
Cute and sad but happy?
I heard about this movie because of John Wilson (How to with John Wilson) since he is the executive producer of this movie, so because of that I kinda know what to expect but still didn't think I would love it this much.
It's beautifully filmed and full of mesmerizing scenes, but what makes this movie are the lovable and eccentric people. Filmmakers really did a great job portraying them and showing us a glimpse of someones reality without much fanfare.
It's such a warm human story filled with laughters, cringe moments and tears. If you are fed up with boring template documentaries this one is for you. I think it is the perfect watch for a slow cozy Sunday afternoon.
Speak No Evil (2022)
There is no "perfect victim"
I find it fascinating when some of the people here give low ratings because they "would act better" in a situation that's described in a movie. This is not a movie about strong people. It's about boring rich people who live in their perfect cozy little bubble and can't phantom that anything bad can happen to them especially not from some generic white couple. And people really underestimate how paralyzing fear is, you can never know how you would behave. It's a movie, it's exaggerated for a reason, don't take it so personally. People really hate when there's no happy ending..
I liked the movie although it was a bit predictable but it stays with you and is very unsettling. Not a movie you can rewatch because it's very heavy but I think it's very well done.
I would like to see a movie where the father is the first one to say "this is weird let's bail" :D.
Shiva Baby (2020)
Uncut gems meets Fleabag kinda vibe
Great movie, did not expect to like it that much. Don't be fooled by a comedy tag, it's definitely not a film for everyone. Dark, awkward and cringe it's made for you to feel claustrophobic and anxious (ergo the annoying crying baby). Excellent performance and well executed movie, maybe just don't smoke w while watching, it's pretty intense.
