READ THE BOOK!
17 April 2023
I watched the Netflix series and struggled to finish it. There were so many bad actors, inconsistencies and questions but, like I said, I finished it. Decided to read the book and there's no comparison! There are some basic similarities to the TV series but the book is so much better and more plausible! Why do directors/screenwriters change the characters, plot lines, dialogue, etc. From a book that is so well written? The actors who played Sutherland, Diane Farr, Sutherland's godfather, were TERRIBLE, just to name a few. Characters were altered to the point that they are unrecognizable. The twists and turns in the book were so well laid out and plausible, but were embellished/altered for TV to the point that it was ruined. Changing the killers completely changes the story, especially the way it was decided to have a couple as hit men, why? Didn't improve it in any way. Just stupid.

Good Zombie Series
31 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I had little expectation when I began streaming this show but am very pleased with it. It's about teenagers and there's campiness involved along with the drama. Very tongue in cheek which makes it a nice reprieve from all the over-the-top zombie action. Good character development, excellent dubbing, good storyline. Although the scene of the Captain's escape and swimming away amidst a crazy barrage of bullets with only one bullet barely grazing him made me laugh... that's why you can't take this so seriously. I also love the references to Train to Busan (which is one of the best zombie movies out there). This is very entertaining and worthwhile if you like this genre.

I Tried...
22 December 2021
I had high hopes for this one but it failed. I don't blame Kristen Stewart who actually does a decent job. However, the script is really bad and the pace is boring. I also had a difficult understanding some of the speaking which made it even more unenjoyable.

EXCELLENT!
23 October 2021
I've read the books, watched all the movies/series that have been based on it and this is finally the one that does the books justice! The casting, cinematography, sets, script, direction... everything is top notch. I have nothing negative to say about it. Thank you!

Interesting

This is a unique take on an old genre. I liked the way it unfolded in a very methodical manner. Good acting, especially from the actor who played the priest.

Disappointing
21 September 2021
First, I read the book and this is so far from the storyline that it's hardly recognizable. Nicole Kidman is one of my favorite actresses but this is a performance that leaves me wanting... she's not good in this. Some performances are outstanding but the script is terrible. Such an entertaining book but a terrible interpretation.

Gripping & Intense

I love zombie movies and series. This one is up there with the better ones of this genre. Just enjoy it for what it is without expectations... I mean, how can we expect more in this genre? It's been done over and over and there's not much more that can be introduced. The filming and acting are terrific. I love how the chapters jump and then tie into together. As in all zombie apocalypses, no character's life is off limits.

Sexy Dracula!
30 April 2021
This is not the Dracula written by Bran Stoker. Frank Langella brought a sexiness to this role that made you want to be his victim. He was the ultimate predator and that made him frightening. I loved this movie because of Langella's interpretation. I remember leaving the theatre with my girlfriend and swooning over this movie. It was malevalent, dangerous and so much better than I expected. Now, many years later, I need to find a copy of this and see if it holds up. I've always enjoyed Frank Langella's versatilty and his ability to morph into whatever the role required.

Excellent!

Ignore the bad reviews... this is a show well worth watching. The acting is superb and the storyline is mult faceted. Character development is on point. I watched 6 episodes straight before I had to finally get to bed. Can't stop thinking about it and look forward to finishing the series. Remember that no one is all good or all bad.

Great Acting!
14 January 2021
Ellen Burstyn continues to be a great actress. She's amazing in this! And still so beautiful at age 88+! Vanessa Kirby is also excellent. The subject matter is painful and uncomfortable. This is raw and real. Not for everyone.

Hilarious!
24 December 2020
I don't laugh very easily at comedies. However, my son-in-law introduced this to us and we watched 3 episodes for the first seating. By the 3rd episode, I was laughing so hard that I farted... not once, but multiple times! If that isn't proof positive of how funny this show is, then I don't know what to tell you! Brilliant show!

I Love BBO...
15 November 2020
I found this during the Pandemic and it's an escape for me during this awful 2020. I'm on S.1 and I have to say that the premise is familiar, the bakers are fine, but the judges are MEAN! I can't stand the smugness of Kerry Vincent and couldn't believe when said "This is the moment when you shut your mouth" to a contestant! Dan Lepard has also been awful as well. They get too personal and it's uncalled for. The BBO has a "niceness" and encourage the contestants that makes the you feel good and these two Australian judges fail 100% to bring that to the viewers. I'm looking forward to S.2 and beyond when these judges are replaced. Good riddance!

Excellent!
6 November 2020
Nicole Kidman is one of my favorite actresses and she does NOT disappoint in this series! This is a great cast of actors. The story unfolds slowly with intrigue and opens up all kinds of questions. It seems that nothing is as it appears. HBO never fails me with these excellent series!

The Worst
3 November 2020
This is one of the worst movies I have ever seen... it seems to struggle with whether it's a children's movie or one for adults. What I found really offensive is the horribleness of the mother, the passiveness of the main character, the pure awfulness of the imaginary characters and the overall meanness of the message. It couldn't find its identity and, therefore, was an utter failure. Every person in this move was over the top terrible, including her cheating husband. I love a black comedy but this one wasn't that... it tried to be a movie for kids while having undertones of inappropriate messages.

It's Decent
20 October 2020
I'm on Ep. 4 and there pluses and minuses in this series so far... the music is hokey but addicting. The acting isn't bad. The storyline is weak. But it's still worth watching. First Russian show for me and it's worthwhile.

Meh
16 October 2020
It's not awful. It's not great. I'm bothered more by the bad wigs than the terrible writing, acting, and implausible situations. Since there's not much else to watch, this fills a void, but that's pretty sad to admit. Like I said, MEH!

Good Escape Until the End
7 October 2020
I loved The West Wing so decided to start watching this series. I also like Keiffer Sutherland (who didn't love 24?). The first two seasons of this show were excellent and I was happy to see that Netflix "saved" it for a final season. While the beginning of the season was decent, it quickly devolved into something unrecognizable. I was NOT happy with the last three episodes and couldn't believe what the writers did to these trusted characters. I'm not sure if it's because we're living in a time where nothing seems to stay "good or positive" but the viewers of this show watched it for a reason... to escape into something that we could feel good. The ending of this series did not make me feel good at all. Netflix ruined it.

Very Enjoyable!
6 October 2020
I thoroughly ejoyed this series. Lily Collins is always so watchable. I love Paris and enjoyed seeing so many of the places that I visited several years ago. It's truly one of the most beautiful cities in the world. This show isn't serious and isn't meant to be taken seriously. It's entertaining, romantic and fun. That's exactly what I needed when I binged this in 2 days! Ignore the low ratings... some people just review negatively because they take themselves much too seriously. Sad.

OUTSTANDING! IMPORTANT! RELEVANT!
29 September 2020
Ignore the low ratings here because Trump supporters are trying to diminish the relevance of this production. The acting and writing are brilliant and will result in many Emmy nominations! Regardless of your political affiliation, this will supply viewers with informaton that has not been forthcoming from this White House. This is must-see TV. The fact that Jeff Daniels stands by his portrayal of James Comey and the reasons Mr. Comey did what he did makes it much clearer. I believe Comey did what he thought was right despite the fact that it caused so much negative backlash. I believe his "Boy Scout" attitude and, yes, his ego, got in the way and that he, admittedly, was not a politician and did not want to play at politics. He followed exactly what he was assigned to do... the Rule of Law.

Confusing but Interesting
24 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I never read the book and I had to actually read a spoiler or two to help me understand what was going on. The actors in this movie are stellar and they did a great job with the material. I was fascinated by Jake's parents ore than anything in the movie. Everything in this movie seems to have symbolism and meaning. This is a very thought provoking movie and kept me interested. Not sure I can recommend it because I understand why there are so many negative reviews. It wasn't the best movie I've seen nor was it the worst. I'd definitly say it was worth it for me.

11 September 2020
Acting is excellent. Story is confusing but it's ore than enough to keep my interest. I'm really enjoying this show and I'm not exactly sure why! Very very engaging. I love the two leads and they make me hope it all turns out well for them. I love the music!
