Artist (2013)
Beautiful Drama
After watching this movie you can call paritosh uttam a Shakespeare of India. Or you may call Shyamaprasad the Shakesphere of Malayalam movie. This is a must watch movie. A movie better appreciated if you watch it alone. These are the kind of movies that deserve Oscars. Hats off to paritosh uttam for this story and shyamaprasad for picturing it beautifully. The two lead characters are very well portrayed by Fahad Fazil and Ann Augustine. A very good drama with an excellent ending. It is philosophical. I am not sure how much success it was commercially but a really do deserve awards at highest level. Malayalam movie industry certainly deserve more movies of this standard. The first half of the movie is just a build up which shows the background of the relationship between the two lead characters. Towards the interval the plot reveals. An artist who becomes blind. A Beethovan is created. In the second half we see the struggle, dilemma and the difficult choices the character Gayatri has to make. On the other side Michle who is self centered and cares about nothing other than his painting. I give a rating of 9 out of 10 for this movie.
Dial M for Murder (1954)
Great thriller
Ask me which is the best hitchcock movie. I would say it is Dial M for Murder. It is a real master piece from hitchcock. It keeps the viewers interested right from the start. Although most of the movie happens inside the house, each scene is a perfection; The prolonged conversations between the characters are wonderful and it keeps you fastned to your chair. The actors have done a splendid job. It is really amazing how hitchcock makes such wonderful movies with very few characters and mostly confined within an apartment. In the first half of the movie the conversation between the hero and swann is well thought out. How he starts with business talk and gradually asking him to do something else. And last but not the least the climax of the movie is awesome. Don't miss it.
Vertigo (1958)
A typical Hitchcock movie
A typical Hitchcock movie. But not up to the mark of other Hitchcock movies. At times we get the feeling that the scenes are too slow or prolonged more than what is required. What the Judie does in the end is enough to give a shock at the end of the movie but does have a bad effect on the movie. It doesn't make much sense that she suddenly jumps out. And most important the necklace that gives away the mystery is not very convincing. It was too stupid of Judie to wear it for a dinner with Scott. Overall a typical Hitchcock movie which can keep the viewers thinking. I will give a rating of 7 out of 10 for this movie. I have seen better Hitchcock movies.
