Sharknado 2: The Second One (2014)
Good fun!!
I love cheesy films, about as much as I love actual cheese.
This film was absolute nonsense, and it hams it up every step of the way.
It knows what it is and it doesn't shy away from the fact that it is entirely improbable, and unrealistic... but it's a tonne of fun.
I was laughing and clapping the entire way through this flick, and if you are one of the many who enjoyed the first, you are gonna love this. I couldn't help but feel that at times it was mimicking the Evil Dead films, perhaps chainsaws just do this to me.
I'll be watching this film over and over, I would be surprised if this didn't end up a cult classic.
Chrysalis (2014)
Loved it!
I really enjoyed this film, I was pleasantly surprised.
If you are after gratuitous gore, and amazing special effects, then maybe it's not for you.
The acting is fairly solid, with a few cringe worthy moments, but over all pretty convincing. It's a horror flick done right, I was heavily invested in the characters, and felt anxious when they were faced with dangers.
This is by far one of the better low budget, apocalyptic films made in recent times, beautifully shot, brooding score, and likable characters.
If you liked films like The Road, or Stake land, I think you will enjoy this.
August Underground's Mordum (2003)
True horror fan. This is a bitter pill!
This film is in all sense of the word... horror!
If you sometimes like an occasional horror flick, go away, rent, watch, see, get involved in something else! You won't like this. Even in the event of the excitement of being told you won't like this.... YOU WON't LIKE THIS!!!
This is, in every sentiment, an absolute, cut to the bone horror fans film!
Even a seasoned gore, snuff, extreme horror fanatic can appreciate the boundaries this film attacks. Only the truly dedicated will find this film appealing. I love horror, and I give this film a higher rating purely because of it's absolute shock power!
This is not a scary film! It is in absolution horrific!!!
The cinematography is rigid; borderline awful. The acting is.... so foul that you may almost believe that antagonist's could be real!
Those who question the acting at all, could arguably be appealing for a scapegoat from this film. I didn't once believe that such horrifying acts of human indecency could, or have not occurred.
There is no mold for this film! Cannibal holocaust comes to mind; but even it had a moralistic endeavor... a plot at the very least.
A U M! is the essence of pure chaos! A film that represents absolute indifference to human life. It almost makes a mockery of child sexual abuse, but saves itself with it's only hint of human questioning. Apart from that, there are no holds... it's barbaric, ancient, and relentless!
It examines, and exposes the narcissistic voice in all our minds. Face it! You have all thought of at least once of the horrific happenings in this films... you have! And that is why this film resonates so negatively with everyone.
To avoid anguish, and anger against human prehistoric mentalities avoid this! It is not simply a shocking scene from the book/T.V series A game of thrones! This will shock you! SHOCK YOU!
You will hate it because you've been programmed to!
Do not watch this! Unless shock is what you want!
This isn't a scary movie! It's a horror movie! An absolute horror experience! You've been effin warned...
Hold onto your cocks boys!
You've been warned! Guys don't watch this in the hopes of scaring a lady into your safe arms. She will most probably violently resent any attempts of compassion once this film begins... No Sh%^t!
Blood Widow (2014)
Why?
What was there to like about this film, sadly.. not a thing!
The acting was well below par, even for a film of this nature. The death scenes were recycled garbage, poorly executed, and lack luster. I wanted more than anything to see who ever created the score killed in the film. In fact I wish the antagonist in the films used the director as a weapon to brutally beat the score composer to death.
Seeing that would have been more original than the over done script. Avoid this film, it's nothing you are looking for in a horror film. I literally wanted to punch someone in the face whilst I watched this. Horror films are truly becoming horrible.
Animal (2014)
Better off watching Feast again
I went into this film expecting very little, and that's what I got back. Do not get me wrong, I'm not one of those movie goers hating on horror, or low budget films. I love them both, but this film, there's no love.
I was bored! The acting was bad, and not in a campy way. The attempts to create any tension were tedious and insulting. The story line was a rip from numerous horror films before hand (Night of the living dead, Feast, Dog Soldiers etc).
I will give the film Kudo's for it's practical effects, whilst the creature resembled beasts like Feast, Raw Head Rex, Pumpkin head and The Secret of Nihm. It wasn't CGI, thankfully.
I can't help but feel that Drew Barrymores involvement was intended to create another cult horror flick such as Matt Damons, Ben Afflecks and Wes Cravens produced film Feast (2005). It fails, it lacks the creative direction. Though it had all the correct ingredients, it just felt under prepared, and then over cooked.
I didn't hate this film, but I rolled my eyes, and asked why so many times! It's a no brainer, if you want to waste 90 minutes then watch. If you don't, then watch one of the films it was trying to be, simple.
Godzilla (2014)
It was good, but could have been great
If you want to see beautifully crafted monsters battling it out for dominance, well this movie will be for you. The actions sequences are not fast paced, but are very captivating, and I think that is what saved it for me. I was dreading that I would walk away feeling like I had watched another Pacific Rim, and Transformer film. The CGI is impeccable! This is coming from a guy who finds that cgi leaves a nasty taste in my mouth. Godzilla itself resembles the beast that we can remember from yesteryear, thankfully!
As far as acting and character development goes, well there just isn't any. Cranston delivers a fine performance, though his appearance in the film is all to brief, and that frustrated me. The majority of the characters were painfully dull, and some... why are the even there??.. I don't know.
For a no brainer, visual extravaganza go and see it, there were fist pumps galore during the battles, and some clever little details to get you excited. Though don't go in feeling like you will be getting an insight into anything you don't already know about the beast.. it is ambiguous at best. I can smell a franchise coming, starring the worlds greatest anti hero.
