Saanjhbatir Roopkathara (2002)
Great film with excellnt thought!!!!!!!!
Saanjhbathir Roopkothara is the story of a young dreamer. While the title character dreams of beauty, love and happiness, her dreams are broken by her encounter with men she meets(the men are portrayed as lusting objects, with the exception of the father) and ultimately shattered by her father. Beautifully told, through poetry and symbolism, director Anjan Das presents Tukun aka Saanjhbathi's world. Her world is also presented through her father's wonderful paintings from which she draws inspiration. Indrani Halder gracefully plays the title role with sincerity and maturity while Soumitra Chatterjee is sublime. The music is less used when compared to other films but this makes Saanjhbathi's world more real. While we see her as a lonely dreamer, we gradually learn that she's not the only one and eventually she realizes that she's not lonely. The film opens at a night illuminated by a lit candle and ends at a stormy night and between all this night we see the journey of self-discovery of a lost father and a lost daughter. There is excellent cinematography. The director has beautifully orchestrated the use of nature – both for sound and imagery. I would love to rewatch it and discover more symbolism.
The Last Lear (2007)
Fan of Shakespeare will surely love this movie
The Last Lear perhaps is one of the most beautifully made art film that I have seen. The USP of this multi-starrer was the awesome combination of Amitabh Bachchan and director Rituparno Ghosh. Both are great.Amitabh Bachchan is the ultimate hero in Bollywood while no one can be better than Rituparno Ghosh in direction. For me,being an ardent movie lover, this combination was the biggest reason to see this film. But I was highly impressed to see the efforts of the other actors like Preity Zinta,Arjun Rampal and the very talented Shefali Shah. The movie is based on Shakespeare's play so those who are fan of his play will surely love this movie.
Do Dooni Chaar (2010)
Instant smile on the face while watching the movie
Last Rishi and Neetu kapoor came together in Love Aaj Kal but for a very short period. They really need a strong and right script to come along and this movie is the perfect vehicle for them to came back together as a couple and they both gave splendid uplifting performance in Do Dooni Char.Neetu Kapoor is awesome, she plays justice with her role and doesn't feel like the star wife or a super star mom even for a bit.Intead she is too good in her role as a housewife and mother struggling in a middle class family. The scene i love in the movie is where we can see a frame from their actual wedding album in the backdrop, which puts an instant smile on the face.
Dosar (2006)
A brilliant movie with some brilliant performance.
Dosar is a beautiful Bengali film directed by the superb Rituparno Ghosh. It is the movie about a husband,Kaushik and his wife Kaberi;played by Prosenjit and Konkona Sen respectively.Kaushik and Kaberi are a happy couple until one day Kaberi comes to know about Kaushik's extramarital after a serious accident. Kaushik was with his colleague Mita in the accident, also the other girl in his life. While Mita dies in the accident,Kaushik is left with serious injuries. When Kaberi comes to know of all this, she is left shattered. Many times,Kaberi often threatens divorce but ultimately is overpowered by the wife in her and cannot desist fulfilling her duties towards her husband at the time of crisis. On the other hand, Kaushik too is caught in his own predicament.Prosenjit as Kaushik is superb in his role where he is left with physical and mental trauma and was left with the daunting task of winning his wife's trust back. Both Konkona Sen and Prosenjit are too good in the film and have given one of their best performances till date.It is one of those movies that should not be missed because of the sheer brilliance in all the department.
I Am 24 (2010)
I like music the most
The film starts with an animated depiction of Mumbai along with the main titles. From Marine Drive to the aunties walking on the road, every aspect of Mumbai is presented in a very different way than how movies based in and about the 'maximum city' usually start. Apart from this,i also like its music and songs. One of my favorite song in the movie is 'Chota Sa Sapna Hai Yeh' which is rendered by Shreya Ghoshal. It's a sweet melodious track. Shreya is the right choice for the song and the composition of the song is really good.Another one my favorite,'Abhi Abhi Toh Mere Dil Mein' which is a slow soothing track that will touch your heart. Lyrics are meaningful and manage to convey emotions of the protagonist. Jaspreet Singh has given his all.
Rok Sako To Rok Lo (2004)
All Memories came after watching the movie
If you want to recall your school and college life, want to relive some of the moments then watch rok sako to rok lo.It is a great film by the Planman Motion pictures. Not a new movie but the way its made really makes it special. The fresh faces gives the story a new look.We all know the story is nothing unique.People many times compare it to Jo jeeta wohi sikander. But believe me,its only the story that sounds similar. The two movies are completely different. Both directed by different directors have many things common but its not a copy of Jo Jeeta
Its only a matter of watching the movie before writing any negative about the film or comparing it with other movies.
