Black Widow (2021)

Mediocre at best, a far cry from the usual MARVEL quality movies

So many flaws and faults, almost unbearable. What kept me entertained, were the action pieces and the dysfunctional family dynamics. Also, one star for the casting of Florence Pugh who did a far better job than Scarlett. This movie has absolutely no MARVEL feeling to it. No wonder when you start messing around with source material. A great villain in Taskmaster ruined. Please keep to the source material and stop making everything about diversity and gender equality. The comics are the holy grail, so please hire writers and directors accordingly. 6 out 10 stats.

The Comey Rule (2020)

AMAZING! IMPORTANT! BRILLIANT! THIS IS REALITY!

I rarely write reviews, but I needed to write about this mini-series. First of all, ignore all the bad reviews, either those people have not watched it or are not open minded at all (go figure!). Even if you have closely followed US politics in the last 4 years, you will be shocked to learn about all the dirty and terrifying details that transpired starting before the 2016 election and that those shenanigans are still going on today. This is probably the most important tv show or mini-series made in the last ten years, period. I have never seen a more fitting cast. Jeff Daniels as James Comey and Brendan Gleeson as Donald Trump are a revelation. Every other supporting role has also been casted to near perfection. Hats off for every actor and actress involved. Top notch production values, stellar writing and directing. This should be obligatory to watch.

4 Blocks (2017–2019)

A Masterpiece not only by german standards!

I have been trying to get into german tv shows for quite some time but to be honest, besides "Dark" and "Bad Banks" nothing else made me wanting more or write about it. "4 Blocks" is one of those rare german shows that stands out even in international standards. Highly addictive and bingeworthy, this show has everything, from thrilling twist and turns, emotional, at times even heart breaking moments, violent eruptions and intense action scenes. Stellar performances, especially by lead actor Kida Kodr Ramadan. If you like crime shows mixed with emotional family-themed elements, check this show out.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix (2019)

DON'T BELIEVE THE (PROBABLY PAID) TROLLS!

First of all, DARK PHOENIX was never supposed to be a finale or conclusion of the current X-MEN saga. LOGAN was, is and forever will be the final chapter of this generation of the X-MEN. DARK PHOENIX was supposed to make us forget the dreadful LAST STAND. And it absolutely did that. We finally got an emotional adventure focused on the characters. Solid performances from the whole cast, well placed action scenes and beautifully crafted visual effects. And it also has the best score of all the X-MEN movies, composed by the great Hans Zimmer.

Night Hunter (2018)

what you see is what you get

The trailer suggested a creepy thriller with some action scenes. And that is exactly what I got. Twists and turns with well timed (and not too much) action scenes. Great performances by the always reliable cast of Ben Kingsley, Henry Cavill and Stanley Tucci. Just one factor kept me from giving this movie 10/10: Alexandra Daddario. She is absolutely in the wrong business - she can't act!

The Eiger Sanction (1975)

Better than many other spy movies even better than some 007 movies

This is an absolutely underrated 70's gem, starring and directed by Clint Eastwood. It's not full of insane and over the top action sequences. The action scenes, fight and climbing scenes look and feel real and are well placed. A great book adapted quite well for the big screen. And Clint is just pure fun to watch as the womanizing hero flanked by the great George Kennedy. Amazing score by John Williams. No remake needed. And all the haters and trolls please note that actors like Clint Eastwood or Jean-Paul Belmondo revolutionized action movies by doing their own stunts long long before Tom Cruise, Jason Statham or Matt Damon were even in the picture.

RoboCop (2014)

Splendid job, bright future for a fresh director in Hollywood!

Couldn't wait to see this movie. One day before I went to the movies I watched the original with Peter Weller, so I would be able to compare - the original is in my Top Ten Movies of all time. So firstly I was kind of angry, that RoboCop got a reboot, but then ... Director José Padilha has done an outstanding job, creating a Sci-Fi-/Action-Movie with an enormous depth of character. Okay, Joel Kinnaman was probably not the best choice for playing RoboCop, but hey, he had great supporting cast. So outstanding performances by Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton (yes, he is still alive) and Samuel L. Jackson, and my god is the performance of Jackson frightening ... The movie gives us enough time to learn about the characters so you could really get the emotions of the various characters in their development throughout the movie. And still, you've got plenty state of the art action scenes. And Pedro Bromfman has done a great job scoring the movie, even honoring the late Basil Poledouris who scored the original. So from my point of view: The new RoboCop gets a 9 out of 10! I wanna see more movies like this!
