Cigarette Smoking in Nearly Every Single Scene
8 October 2023
The movie seems completely senseless. There is a pseudo story about the life of a killer and the life of a mute guy. As I understood it should be a comedy, but I didn't laugh one time. In nearly each scene people smoke, even though while masturbating. I didn't see any sense in it than providing the tobacco industry with new addictives. There wasn't shown any brand, but that doesn't matter. The stinky sticks were the only real matter of that movie.

They tried to cover it with some kind of (at that time) new rebellious humor, which doesn't fit anymore. The humor touches me like second hand embarressment. After watching nearly 2/3 we skipped it because it was unbearable dumb and pointless. Despite the good optics, they should have put some more effort in the story instead of making it a smoking commercial. This is a typical movie for people who want to cover their addiction with themes of coolness and sexual connotations to smoking.

I was watching that because it was a cheap offer from Amazon and I'm gratefull to not have paid the full price for it. The movie simply was one of the biggest dissappointments we experienced this year and we still wonder about the high ratings. I wont watch that again. It surely is a movie for tobacco-maniacs.

A Movie Like an Accident - Don't Like It, But Can't Look Away.
24 September 2023
This movie is unbelieveable dumb, playing with dozends of clichés of horror movies. Starting with a pervert in a coroner hall, disturbing the.dignity of the death by doing sexual misbehavior, over a botched spring break to total absurdity. It has more than disgusting scenes and simply no real story. I must admit that some of the scenes were that irritating absurd that I couldn't hold on laughing. But that was more reflexevly than because of the "fun" it pretends to spread. Sure there were some unintentional funny moments, but too less.

I don't know why I watched it until the end. I guess I did, because I wanted to know if that rubish can get lower and - surprise - it did every few Minutes. It's not that I don't like gory horror movies including sex scenes, but this one is just silly and somehow infantile.

My conclusion is that it is unintentionally funny at some moments, but also unbearable disgusting, brutally aggressive and at the end not really worth watching it. I still gave it a 4/10. That's.to be attributed to the fascination of the absurdity it provides for itself.

Very Good Made, but Pure Propaganda!
19 October 2022
If it wasn't made in todays situation, I would surely have given that movie a 7 or 8 of 10. But in todays political situation the whole scenario, the heroism that is told about North Korea in China that days, plus the end of the movie is today unbearable to me. The today's human rights situation tells a close story and at the date the movie plays, Mao Zedong was about to build up the communistic system in China, which also lead to the North-Vietnam war in consequence. America didn't succeed in Vietnam we know. It was a disaster which better wouldn't have happened. But this movie is also the wrong way. It shows that masses of people which are loyal enough to their country are heroes when giving their live for the communism. That's the message of the movie. And it's simply unbearable today. Praise to the director and actors, ... but no, not! I even wouldn't recommend it to Chinese people.

Great Fictional Story on the Borders of French History
26 August 2022
It's not only a movie about cuisine, earlier times, cooking and eating. It's a decent pearl of acting and story-telling. The relationships between the characters are the power of this pearl.

I shortly can say that I loved every aspect of this movie!

The story, the setting, the acting, the character drawing and developement, the directing, the production design, the ..., the ..., the ... . It's one of the rare movies that transport an interesting story easily. It's no effort to watch it. It's 1h54, but feels shorter to watch. Every minute is interesting in itself! There was no flaw in it - in my humble opinion. One of the perfect entertaining movies in a higher way. I love it, even though I know there won't be the delightment for everyone. No action, no CGI, no modern words.

I would recommend it to movie-lovers who like the times when there were no modern techniques around and story-driven movies which live by decent acting, good story-writing, near to perfect production designs and fitting atmospheres of movies according to earlier centuries.

Nice Highschool-Acting Style
10 August 2022
Who the heck had the idea of this? It seems they had to burn money for saving taxes. Bad acting. The story deals with historical events and change history thereby. The movie ignores physics, contemporary society rules, taste in general. The dialogues are partly senseless, partly put on. When it comes to flying scenes, the planes look like from a modell kit and the effects seem to be made on a home computer. Nothing sounds or looks real in this movie. If it was at least somehow interesting, I would have given a higher rating - but no! You better save your time!

The Batman (2022)

Partly Good, but I Don't see a Batman Movie in it.
29 July 2022
The worst point is the way too slow pacing in the first 3/4 of the movie. At the end the story takes up speed, but we had some moments that drag on to long. The way it is told sometimes reminds me on other crime stories, but the.closeness to comic-movies gets lost somehow. Some characters seem to be drawn way to far from the usual drawing, like e.g. The story of martha and Thomas Wayne. I don't want to write about the portaying of Alfred. I just don't like it. And I don't like that they made Falconi look like Stan Lee. That's a grotty turn, somehow!

I think the movie could have been better, if they would have shorten it at lest about 45 minutes to.tighten it. The music was partly good, partly nerve-racking, partly misplaced. And another point for criticism is that Batman obviously acted real dumb in a few scenes/sequences. Sometimes I really thought: "That's not Batman. He wouldn't act such dumb!"

At the end: The movie had it's moments. The message was ok at the end of the movie. And they did a good cinematography. The writing wasn't really good, according to some characters. But I don't really see a Batman movie in it. It's more like a what-if-version of Batman.

Beside 'Eternals' and 'Iron Man 3' One of the Few Marvel Movies I Don't Like
27 June 2022
The beginning was ok, even interesting, bonding, somehow. The middle was interesting, even though foreseeable, but the ending sucks! The last 20 minutes destroyed the whole movie. Packed with over-the-top-action and in consequence boring somehow. A movie which is exchangeable to many other movies by its qualities. In the last 20 minutes it looked like they wouldn't know how to end it and stuff it with action to make an excuse of it. After that the last cheesy parts were unbearable. No! I don't like that. I'm a Marvel fan and was in a rush in the MCU by phase 1-4, which had a pretty awesome peak in 'Avengers: Endgame'. I also like the Marvel TV-series, at least most of them. But this movie is dull.

Great Story, Great Acting, Great Cinematography, Great ....
22 June 2022
This movie is great on many bases. It shows the power of mind in a way, which is very understandable. I see no flaw in this movie, but it clearly is difficult content, because it deals with a time that is gone a long time ago. I can imagine that many younger people can't understand the meaning of that all. The movie is being carried perfectly by the whole cast and especially by Oliver Masucci. It tells the story also in flashbacks, which are clear enough. One of the best German literature filming. I recommend it especially for people who are interested in this timeframe of history of Austria and Germany and literature. Also it isn't biographical, it shows likewise circumstances.

Started Cool, but Turned To Complete BS at the End.
9 June 2022
It was intense, interesting and even funny for some time, until "the hero" turned pointless brutal. But the most nerve-racking point was the loss of every seriousness, when the movie approached the end and lost all rests of realism to turn into a kind of unrealistic weird comedy-show, which killed all serious approaches for playing with cheesy pulp-stereotypes. They should have decided to take it to a peak at the end or at least a less ridiclulous open end. We won't watch that crap again.

I Would have Liked a More Unambiguous Explanation
5 June 2022
The movie starts with an interesting scenario, I was curious about. But it became fuddled by progress. I wish there was a red line to follow in it, something more than just the main characters to keep up understanding. At the end I got a doubtful impression that I watched a movie I didn't understand, expect the case there wasn't really something to understand. The drug thing wasn't a good explanation. It mixes up drug phantasies with real-life action. I wish it was more self-explaining and clear to the eye. Normally I really like Korean movies which cross the border to Europe, they are mostly very good told, but I quarrel with that one.

No Need to be Serious About
5 June 2022
This movie declares from beginning that it has not a serious scenario. And that's what you get. A comedy about a not serious meant werewolf-horror. It deals with forms of stereotypes and prejudices. It has funny moments. This is made for a men's evening with beer and fun, not more. And that's why it gets a 6/10 for me, because it doesn't fake a "serious scenario". You get what you see in the trailer. That's a kind of honesty. It sure is not a very good movie, so my rating isn't higher.

Slushy Melodrama of the 1950s
5 June 2022
The very slow pacing makes me sleep away. The story is told in a way that may have been very ok and intense at that time, but I saw it the first time today. Over-the-top machismo and unrealistic behavior by mostly all of the characters. Especially the character of Pandora Reynolds, played by Ava Gardner is unbearable. The worst are the depressive laments of the dutchman, such a looser. The movie lasts for two hours, but they felt like four hours. If someone likes slow-paced nostalgica with depressively long winded language, this might be his/her movie.

Please Kill This Franchise!
28 May 2022
In the first part Jamie Lee Curtis gained the state as a scream queen. And in the time of the late 1970s and in the 1980s it was a new look on slashers, especially with the nerve-racking score of John Carpenter it was thrilling a lot. But the franchise grows more and more to BS. Jamie Lee Curtis seems to change to the same crowd-puller like Nic Cage, wasting her talent in more and more ridiculous productions. This one is filled with pseudo-morals and mediaval behaviour. A movie which looks like a commercial to sell the emotional setting that violence is the adequate treatment to handle problems. Since the first movie there were several sequels which all tell us that Michael Myers can't be defeated. For me it's a little bit like the Saw-franchise. It's only made for the sake of showing violence and gets cheaper with any new part. That's poor!

Another BS that tell us what's real justice.
21 May 2022
It was interesting from the beginning, but turned to BS untill the end. B stands for something like male cattle and S stands for something brown that stinks. Some makers leave no chance to tell naive people what real justice would be like. Now they wrapped it in an 1980s games scenario, trying to "show" what 80's game lovers are like and how you should see it. Poor and dumb.

Here we go again.
17 April 2022
I'm a little torn about being an ABBA-lover and a movie nerd. For fans the emotional worth is countless, when the songs of ABBA are played and that's also for me. Especially the ending sequence is heart-melting. When you look more sober at it, the time-jumps are unfortunate by missing introduction marks, somehow. Maybe the story is just a tool to present the songs, but that happens on a human base everyone understands. It might be that the movie is made for an advanced mature audience. It's simply great when Meryl Streep and Cher are on stage. The vibes of the 80s return, somehow. I won't praise it for being an flawless movie. On being a musical I would rate it a 7/10. Looking at he story, I would rate it at 5...6/10. But I took the musical aspect, because that's what it is. A clear recommendation for ABBA fans, which I would myself count to.

Slow Paced, but Intense Relationship Drama
14 April 2022
It's realy very slow paced, but intense. I think the Intensity easily compensates the slow pacing. But I think it's a story for a narrow audience. It's about dementia and coping with it in a gay relationship. I like the aspect that the makers show up that not only hetero people face that problems. In a healthy society all people belong to it. The problems with dementia are not limited to so called "usual" relations. The movie is emotional and tough. When you look at it, dementia and the problems with it is very bad disease for all people. Colin Firth and Stanley Tucci gave one of the best performances in the last years. Touching, authentically and lovely. The character drawing is realistic. In the film there are also some strongly delightful landscape shots. Strong cam-work. I see no flaw in the cut. I recommend that movie to people who are open to the contents. A clear recommendation.

The Worst Marvel Movie!
16 January 2022
After the trailers I lowered my expectations and the actors, the writer, and the director even dived under that mark with no problem!

It began slow, but after the introduction of the characters the the story didn't pick up speed. It's a way too long movie and the boring story telling and lame acting made it even longer. They missed a chance for another good Marvel. I really did like all the other Marvels except 'Iron Man 3', which was unfitting into the whole series, but the 'Eternals' fouled up completely.

In the beginning there was good music, but with more and more time the music was replaced by a score, which was nerve-racking dramatic - totally misplaced. Sometimes it was schmaltzy over the top.

It was one of the worst disappointments for me this year. The top of the disappointment were the stilted dialogues. Lame show! The time jumps didn't make the movie better. Some scenes looked awesome, which couldn't prevent me from being bored over the whole runtime that felt like 5 hours. A.recommendation for insomniacs.

The Slow Story-Telling Made Me Sleep Away
26 November 2021
Too slow! Even though there were a few scenes of magic in it, I drifted away. Sorry for Rosamund Pike. I won't watch it anymore after the first episode. It got nothing which ties me to the screen. All telling of the story was to vague for me.

About 40 Minutes Great Entertainment, Thereafter the Disappointment Beginns
10 September 2021
I had the first impression that the movie has pretty good dialogues. Chloe Moretz had pretty good face expressions, which painted a clear image of a young woman with good self confidence in a time when sexism was culturally completely accepted. I suffered with her when she faced the bad language of the other plane crew. It had some moments when the movie got murky and strange, which forced the suspens to a strong level. I loved to see Moretz as a very strong and determined character, which was Great.

But then the story turned unlogic, unrealistic and sometimes simply dumb. The writers didn't care about physics anymore, some moments are cheesy, others seem to be constructed without any simple knowledge of anatomy. I'm not a doctor, but even I know that some things can't be like they were shown. To the end it get's worse and worst. It seems to be a try to push feminism real hard, which would be ok, if it wouldn't look so dumb. So it does feminism a bad deed. Partly I had the feeling they wanted to sabotage the carrer of Moretz, who played fine in the first part of the movie. The second part made the impression that the writers didn't know anymore how to let it end better. It further made the impression to me that they had real troubles to think of an end that puts the story to a comprehensible and fitting end. But the end just revealed the fact that they needed one specific element in the first half (I don't want to explain here, not to spoil), just to force the story somehow. That's really poor.

To the end it nearly became a close to unbearable b*ll***t. I'd recommend it to people who like trash movies. They should watch only the second half, because the first half is still to good for a trashy.

You Get What You Can Expect, and That in a Professional Look
29 July 2021
When I go in a movie like this, I know that it would be a huge surprise to face Shakespeare'esque dialogues. This movie is made for one sake: Stunning the audience by tremendolous escalating mass destruction - and maybe a little story which is not too weired.

Well the story is really the weak point, like foreseen. It's running linear with no big surprises, but by ignoring a few middle big logical fails, the movie is entertaining very well. Especially the artwork of the big images can be very delightful. I enjoyed many of the big scenes, which are designed pretty good. The only thing which gives me the brakes for giving the optics 10/10 is the totally loss of realism in some scenes. E.g.: when King Kong bites something very squishy, his face should be in a mess right after, but looks very clean. On the other hand, there are scenes when big buildings are hit and break down and fall, a minute after they are not replaced with new one's to crush, like in many other movies of that kind. The place is in a mess after, which is a big plus for the realism, compared to e.g. 'Pacific Rim' or the 'Transformers'-movies.

I really did like it. By considering the story, I would give it 5/10, but with adding all the visual mega crushing-fun, I'd place it at 9/10. It is sure not the re-invention of monster-stuff, but it's solid monster-fun with even some new ideas and a solid villain. So I had a little more fun than I expected and in the end I give it a 7/10. I'd recommend it for everyone who likes big monster rumbles. For guys like me it's big fun.

Raw and Excessive Torture for It's Own Sake
29 July 2021
There are poor and unrealistic excuses for all the shown torture. All seems very artificial constructed for the sake of showing torture and pain. The worst is the story telling, which is chaotic nonsense. Add some classical music elements and there will be people who are delighted about this "piece of art". Even though the torture effects are obviously handmade, which highers the realism a little bit, there are no insects shown in that blood coated scenario. No flys, no ants, no cockroaches, not anything - just bloody pain with an artificial forced kind of poor story and characters who are very unlikeable. Like all the unrealistic things which are shown, the motives of the characters are exaggerated to the maximum to force the impression that those characters would have a good excuse for their behavior, but they are just very sick. The one and a half hour felt one hour longer than it played. I recommend this movie for people who have too much time and like gore, no matter what.

Basically Good, but Awfully Bad Logic Fails and Plot Holes
15 June 2021
I see that movie as a failed chance. The basic story is solid good from the beginning on, the acting is not bad. I like the effects and the ending, but in-between it has serious logical errors, get's too cheesy at a few moments and the music is sometimes over the top. The message is ok, but at some points it seems to be constructed with a common set of story elements, which are used in other movies. That happens especially when it comes close to the end. For me as a movie dude it feels like I saw those in another version earlier with other actors. I think if they would have spent a little more money for a better script, it could have been more delightful. The idea of this movie is good.

I would recommend it for people who like environmental scifi movies and who didn't see many of them.

Capone (2020)
7/10
The Downfall of an American Icon
3 June 2021
In countless movies Capone is glorified as the leading gangster, as an unbeatable, ruthless and cold hearted predator, which ever wins. But this movie is based on more human aspects and is a view on the formerly feared gangster when the rush of success vanished. Tom Hardy portrayed Al Capone as the nursing case he was at the end. I don't know if the movie is completely accurate. I read some articles and his wikipedia-site to know enough about Capone's end. In the end it is what happens to all, who walked of the path of the righteous man. A life with fear, guilt and wistfulness follows. Many people knew that he died from a kind of Syphilis. But this movie shows more; the whole palette of his suffering. So why do I give only 7 of 10?

It's hard to see these long winded scenes of suffering, which are made in a strong symbolical way. There are so many scenes which try to draw his inner feeling when it comes to rememberances. This flood of images is sometimes a little glutinous. And the amount of these scenes is a little too much. It is not a typical mafia movie many people would prefer, even though it has it's qualities. So I totally understand that people who prefer movies like Scorsese's epics, are disappointed. In my consideration the movie is under-rated.

Could have been a good movie.
27 April 2021
It has good characters and an interesting subject. The war scenes are professional taken with explosions and soldiers flying through the air when that happens. So far so good. But the story is boring in long parts and through the hole time - except the battle scenes - the music tries to ballance the weak dialogues; tries to make them more interesting. Most of the time the movie drips from patriotism and has less scenes to point out the fears of war. The soldiers are unrealistic motivated, no weakling, no coward. It's a black and white scenario. Here the good, there the bad. It's a one dimensional drawing of the.incidences. There is no bad russian in this movie, but all bad people are on the other side. Underlined with dozends of cheesy patriotic expressions.

It had the chance to be something special, just because of the professional making. But the nerve killing cheese score blew it. And of course the weak dialogues. Sorry for the actors. They seem to have tried their best.

Dense Story Telling, Sometimes Excessive!
16 August 2020
Warning for sensitive people: This movie contains very explicit violence, very hard visualized violence and bloody scenes - liters of blood. The story beginns slowly with a guy who wants to kill a man, who he believes has raped his own daughter. The man is a police man - an investigator - so the situation escalates.

The story is shown from different angles and times. The time jumps are ok, because they are a continous part of story telling. Time by time other characters are added, so the story becomes enhanced until the end, with a few turns in it. Clever story! :D

Most of the story happens in one flat, but there are several side scenarios, especially in the time jumps. The violent scenes are greatly exaggerated visually, to show the audience some blood showers. But on the other hand it is also very comedic and always ballances on a fine line to not get too serious. I think it's the mix of story telling, good camera shots, good cutting, good acting, gory visuals and humor that makes it interesting. There is also some weired folk music, which makes it even more bizarre. I really liked it.
