Champions (2023)
Enjoyable, never patronizing and good hearted
The mentally disabled can be some of the most fun and entertaining folks in the room. Dirty jokes fly like 747's and I'm glad that this film kept that part honest.
I'm impressed that this film was never patronizing; considering how patronizing the Liberal empathy drug addicts of Hollywood can be.
The acting is very good and the story of Darius really hits home since I've had a similar family tragedy. Powerful stuff.
The characters are good hearted and there is only one or two Liberal revenge fantasy moments that don't derail the film, thank god.
All the kids on the team are great!!! Looking forward to following their film careers.
Woody and Kaitlin have good chemistry and the dinner scene with the mother is extremely moving. Kaitlin delivers a pitch perfect performance in this scene, we feel her fear of losing what she protects and cherishes most. I just wish we would have had that final conclusion conversation between her and her brother, rather than it happening in the background. Felt like they ran out of time shooting that particular final scene.
Also, I always jump up and down when Ernie Hudson appears, I LOVE that actor. He's great.
This picture is a little clunky at times and I would have preferred they shot on film rather then video (Digital is video everyone). 35mm would have added greatly to the harsh winter climate the picture is set in. Even the Alexa full frame 100k$ video camera couldn't hide it's video shortcomings in this climate. Film is and will always be king.
A good movie worth watching.
Ahsoka (2023)
Pure Trash Water
The 8.0 rating is artificially generated and clearly pumped up to hide the smell.
So, guided tracking canons and object tracking lasers don't exist in the Star Wars universe? Also, after the 5th or sixth fight amongst the same characters I was bored (and annoyed).
This is not a slow burn, it's a crawl into the vapid mind of Dave Filloni.
By Ep2 it was easy to see the path of this story.
The action choreography is trash, the story is trash.
Rosario Dawson has zero athletic ability. Could she wield her sabers any slower and with no grace. The endless CROSSED ARMS is a poor directorial choice.
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (2022)
Misandristic feminism made She Hulk an Incel
What a shame!
A true shame!
This could have been fantastic! But, it's simplistic cynical 1st grade feminism, it's endless simp pandering, bad writing, poor choices and a complete disregard to it's audience is why this failed.
SHE HULK IS AN INCEL!!
The cast is great. Not a flaw in that. The problem is with the show runner and the writing.
This should have been inspired by Susan Seidelman, Lina Wertmuller, Penelope Spheeris and Agnes Varda and been a Sex in the City approach that is raunchy, funny, punk rock and edgy.
Instead, we were treated to a mind numbingly stupid misandristic story by a bunch of women who hate men AND WHO ARE BAD AT THEIR JOBS!!
The funniest bit is when She Hulk tried to hug her friend but her breasts were too big! That was funny, but it's the only time the show worked.
Also, another story of women who can't take accountability for their own pathetic actions.
And, it's hard to believe these women are oppressed as they make a $50 million TV show in Atlanta/California.

Split: A Divided America (2008)
A unique look at American politics
I really enjoyed this film. It was refreshing to see a political doc that didn't exploit the beliefs of any one political party. Split takes a unique approach by examining the sociological divide of American's because of their political beliefs. Many subjects are covered and it raises several important topics for people to think about. In fact after our crew viewed the film at a local LA festival we discussed it for several hours after.
Split: A Divided America is a genuine film with an important message that should be required viewing for all Americans. Split is not without it's flaw's but the filmmakers made a moving and thought provoking piece that offers a refreshing take on the complexities of American politics.
Check it out!
