The Sandman (2022)
Watch without expectations
After reading some of the reviews here I had to comment. People seem so set on certain necessities in stories nowadays. A story can't be slow anymore? Isn't the pace of a story just another means to create flow? To drive important turning points? I won't say everything in the Sandman was executed perfectly and I did get the feeling some story arcs did not reach full potential. However, I watched things that felt new to me, and that happens less and less. I would hope more people allowed themselves to let go of their expectations a bit.
I just can't understand how you would dislike the story in episode 6, which is an absolute marvel to watch and very well executed.

The Story Doesn't End
It's what they lead the show with. But most of the audience is so used to having a story end satisfactory they don't know how to react to this. Maybe I wanted the story to end like that from an aesthetic point of view, because it just was so extraordinary. But conceptually, the outstretched aftermath episode and totally detached Segal-special, delivered the show's message. It made me conscious about storytelling, idealization and human desires. Was it worth diminishing the original story to do so? I don't know.
