Licorice Pizza (2021)
Two hours of people running
I wanted so badly to see "one of the best movies of the year" "another masterpiece from this director" "the best teen romantic movie of the decade" that perhaps so many viewers ended up crashing watching a movie that has nothing to do with it with these categories.
The film presents a slow story, sometimes very slow, of an enterprising teenager, who starts up with rare businesses around the 70's, supposedly being an extra in commercials and series, without much luck; The thing is, we never know how a 15-year-old teenager manages to have enough money to buy mattresses, own a truck, hang out with the best stars in Hollywood, or have reserved seats in the restaurants they go to.
Their supposed love story while they grow up take just only two years old, where the protagonist is anxious to have a boyfriend and get married, and he makes her jealous and runs after her when everything goes wrong: few more.
Boring, disappointing, with only a very good soundtrack of the time (many times excessive), unfunny jokes, good cameos by Sean Penn, Tom Waits, etc. That even, do not save a story that at the time of an hour of footage no longer interests you, in what is undoubtedly the worst film by Paul T. Anderson.
Perhaps it would have been better focused and directed by Soffia Coppola or Wes Anderson.
The Watcher (2022)
Mia Farrow doin' some Mia Farrow Stuff...
No, really... this is it?
No answers, no scares, so predictable...
Just a story that talks about obsessions, greed for appearances, and a poor reflection of capitalism.
Though the scary crescendo is decent and well-written; ending feels like absolutely disappointing. It is difficult to empathize with a family that is not very intelligent in its way of acting either.
On the other hand, it is very dishonest to make series or movies based on "true stories" so that people at the end of it, look for said stories only out of curiosity or morbid desire.
Is this story real? I don't know... I don't care either...
So yes, the scariest thing is Mia Farrow.
Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)
Terrible script holes that could be fixed in the half hour that the film has left...
Without being a bad movie, much better than the previous two, this movie is far from being a masterpiece.
This apparently last part of the trilogy directed by John Watts, rather than opening "a world of possibilities with the multiverse" just remains characters that appear in holes with sparks, the director misses the appearance of the other two Spider-men in a long gag that doesn't work.
The lizard and the sandman feel a bit forced, they change their minds, They seem to have no soul by not having flesh and blood actors, because you even doubt that the actors were there ...and it feels long, very very long, in a footage that does not know where to find its climax.
More than opening a world of possibilities for the Marvel universe, the film is content to try to erase the other two films of its director, turning Holland into some kind of Tobey Mcguire with the tone of the second part of Sam Raimi: in a TRUE SPIDERMAN.
The result when we remove the blatant fan-service, which rips and rips minutes away from the film, taking away its rhythm, is that Tom Holland that until now had been in the wrong tone, in two forgettable films, finally it becomes interesting.
Spiderman finally looks like the character we love: In the solitude of responsibility and his actions.
Total Eclipse (1995)
Maybe the best work of Leonardo Dicario and must people still don't know it...
It is a pity that a film like this, in which Leonardo Dicaprio give us one of his best performances, is his most unknown film.
Dicaprio shines as the tortured poet and "infant terrible" Arthur Rimbaud, in a well-made film, and which only seems to give the viewer respite in his final act.
One of his best films without a doubt.
Absolutely recommended, and one of the most underrated historical films.
The Mule (2018)
No one says a word of Diane Wiest???
We never thank the existence of the life and filmography of Clint Eastwood enough. An indisputable genius of the seventh art.
This movie is still a great success. Simple in structure, in soundtrack, but with an enormous work of actors.
Dianne Weist stands out among all of them.
That Clint Eastwood can continue to sign dignified and profound films to his faithful audience at this point in his existence, and ours, is a clear symbol that his art will leave a timeless mark, and that is only at the height of a few geniuses. .
La casa de papel (2017)
Every season is gettin' worst..
What a shame.
Why does a good series have to be lengthened, until it completely loses its identity? This last season, which no longer makes sense and where you no longer believe absolutely nothing of what happens, and neither do you mind you..
This is the last time I hope to get so bored with a serie..
Lilo & Stitch (2002)
The most underrated movie of Disney, perhaps the best.
Never a Disney movie take place on a exotic place, never had a Little girl with a desestructure family. Never had an alien, never had a carachter with an arc of transformation so big.
The great point of this film is that his big plot had most that you can wait for a Disney movie:
A tribute to Elvis, a modern tale of the "Ugly duck" a beautiful ideal about Family and friendship, about the the respect of other cultures, and so more...
The film is so beautiful and made with so much care and love, that I almost sure that is an automatic great classic.
Im in true love with this film.
Mute (2018)
Great story but sooooooo boring...
And
interesting movie with great premise, but with several problems: unnecessary plot in the future, an edition that make this film very slow and boring. although he has great ambition in his photography and good performances, the slow pace and the pretentious and lacking montage spoil what could have been a good movie about revenge and love.
Another failure of netflix in its desire to swell too quickly its catalog.
Last Action Hero (1993)
THE TIME GIVE IT THE REASON! An amazing, and original film!
Its a shame that people don't appreciate the great script and the surrealistic and original implications on this film. The history is great, maybe with a better director, it could explode the potential of the masterpiece that really had. But is solid. In humor, action, parody, and with a great and powerful soundtrack.
All his cultural gags are memorable. This must be the honorable "Goodbye" that Arnie deserves, but lucky won't be by his side. Fortunately, time put it on a great place; Maybe we still be just stacking´ actors of someones else´ life...
Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
A script that made a monkey hitting a computer keyboard
I can write a million bad things about this one.
I think people known that this new saga is terrible, an spit in the face to a legacy, an ofense and a nightmare. A nightmare that finally ENDS.
Hope that someone put the script in a box, and trow the key to the sea...
MORE THAN 30 YEARS FOR WRITE SOMETHING DECENT!!!!
30!!!!!
We don't deserve this...
Scrooged (1988)
YES. Dear viewer. Bill Murray is God.
This is one of the best comedies of all times. Not only to see it in christmas.
A great adaptation, a beautiful tale about kindness, humanity and the power of love and hope over the sadness, the greed and selfish.
The direction of Donner is perfect. and of course, Bill Murray like always, get the perfect measure over comedy, and shows his incredible drama skills ("remember the Catara falls, Frankie" he´s just...marvelous)
This film is an adult and respectful film, with the viewer, hide from the silly comedy and the easy jokes, that are the poor formula in this kind of films nowadays. His balance over comedy, drama, and a little bit of terror that Richard Donner gave it, make this film a little masterpiece.
Of course ITS RIDICOLOUS that Mr. Bill Murray don't have an Oscar.
He's a wonderful actor, his solid charisma always been with him over the years. His filmography its very solid, and he made a remarkable work in every movie.
I Love Bill films, I love this film,.
I write this critic in the horrible pandemia of 2020 of Covid-19, in Paramount picture channel today and tomorrow they are giving a special of 80´s movies.
We Will had: Scrooged, Ghostbusters I and II, and many others with Bill.
I have to say: Thanks, Bill Murray, for make us laugh, for this time of meditation at home. Only a genius could made of this sad times, a beautiful memorie.
Christopher Columbus: The Discovery (1992)
Brando was very angry and feel shame about this movie. Now we know why...
I read recently "The songs that my mother taugh me" the auto-biography of Marlon Brando. When he remember this movie, he said that he made all that he could for re-write the script, and he tries even when the film was in his final editing, to do a script that told THE TRUE, about Cristopher Columbus, and the "discover" of the new world... The REAL history.
He was very disappointed and in fact he predicted that the film at the end, will be shameful.
This is what happens when Hollywood hears the producers in love with the money and not to a genius with 35 years of experience.
True Detective: Now Am Found (2019)
A solid history that ends with a anti-climate puncture
What a shame, what a shame... If you copy the structure of season one, do it till the end!!!
True Detective mends the disaster of the season 2, with a good history, excellent actors and a magistral time-line editing that sadly, saves a foreseeable and poor end to a patient viewer.
Hope the writers surprise us on next True Detective. I know they could.
Gisaengchung (2019)
This is true cinema: When everything is just perfect.
If you like cinema, dont miss this movie.
At last, ill been waiting so many years for a movie like this: a beautiful, powerful and great history who touch all the film genres, and do it SO well. Parasite is an awesone thriller who break with a lot of spin and turns a masterpiece script.
A director in state of grace talks about almost everything: the most inhuman capitalism, how the middle class just dissapear, an amazing tale about the life and death, about the dreams that grow and dies, about you cant runaway for who you really are, and the great hole between the human being.
Is better just go and see this movie with no idea about what it goes.
Its the greatest film you see for decades. Believe me.
"Dont do any plans. Life dont go this way"
Brooklyn Nine-Nine: Safe House (2018)
The funniest "perverts" of the history of cinema...
One of the best. Kevin must be in more episodes. The writers of B. 99, could be proud of this one. Love this show. Hope they made 4 seasons more!!!
Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi (2017)
Its all a Jar Jar dream? it's the only explanation
Or its a Justin Bieber video with Benicio del toro improving him dialogues when they say: "action!
Please someone try to explain me what this movie it's about...
No.... seriously. We all are guilty for fell in a nostalgic rape of our menories, and go and see this awful garbage. When episode VII was the beginnin' of the end.
YOU GOT THE LESSON?
Buy "Spaceballs" DVD... go and buy some flowers to your grandma, trow your money for your window, go and see last Julia Roberts comedy.
I swear to you, that you feel better.
Terminator: Dark Fate (2019)
"Hasta la vista... James Cameron"
This movie is even worse than the new Star Wars saga, even worse than the new Alien saga and the last Indiana Jones. James Cameron was a big liar saying that Edward Furlong was in this movie. Oh, really?! 3 seconds of CGI of his head is "back to a franchaise"?
I was a huge fan of Terminator but now im a huge fan of "Police Academy" is much better that an awful plan to tryin to take you by your knees upside-down and make some money.
NEVERMORE, mr. Cameron. Youre terminated my patience is over.
Only You (1994)
A ouija and a silly girl. Bad combination.
Before Pretty Woman, and the pink and silly romantic comedy, with Meg Ryan or the (in)famous Bridget Jones trilogy, the manual of "dont do this on a movie, if you have some
dignity" was born. And wrote the masterpiece of stupid scripts.
Oh god... nothing is so sad, and full
of shame that follow across europe-postcards to a woman just a few days before her wedding start to think like a silly child of 12 years and act like she was 9.
What is doing R. Downey Jr. In this movie? Why this woman is the only one in the history of cinema that is looking for love because a witch and a ouija tell her? She dont have any other ways to spend money when she get bored?
Any person, or boy or girl, could really just believe that a movie can have a script with this kind of premise so empty and meaningless that want to reduce and make us though about the idea of love and women's inteligence is about... this?
The name of the love of your life is Jack Jackson.
Hope you find cheap tickets, and a hotel with a pretty pool.
So silly, but true... its a romantic-comedy like this one
The Breakfast Club (1985)
Borring and idiot Club
Ive heard so many things about this movie, i though it was great classic, a great comedy or drama... or whatever...with a mature script that was on the "top five" of a generation.
This movie just sucks. This bunch of losers never get any interest or get some simpathy from you... The character of "the mad and psycho profesor" is unbelievable... the 35 teenagers old, are overacting, with a cheap philosopy about his life, his parents, they hate each other? They are buddies? I don't care because i left them all saturdays till they die.
Really its just SO DUMB... they cry, they dance, they insult, they make up, and judge...and in the end the message is clear: NO ONE CARES, any of them.
The Meaning of Life (1983)
Monty Python throw up their shirt sleeves, and made their final "tour de force"!
Ok, maybe it had any rhythm problem in his last 20 minutes, but GOD! you have serious problems if you don't see that this movie has some of the best music scenes of all times: "Every sperm is sacred" still be amazing, provocative, and absolutely revolutionary. and it makes seeing the rest of the movie almost obligatory.
The opening with the beautiful short of Terry Gillian, and the unparalleled talent of this comedians, writers, philosophers, genius! during all film made The meaning of life, a film that everybody must see every two years, you will always laugh, you always find something beautiful, amazing and absolutely new.
24 (2001)
A master piece, and almost Sutherland reason to exist.
You have it ALL with this show, in all senses:
Is so original, so well done, and of course: You have Mr. Kiefer Sutherland, creating each season one of the best anti-heroes of the history of the TV serials.
I dont use to follow TV shows because i get born so fast... but the rythm, edition and each season that just grows and grows, and its better, make 24 one of my all times favourites. (Season 2, 5 and 8 are just master pieces of drama and action)
The solitude of a heroe when his honest, the caractheres so real, because they are not totally bad or good, and the life in this "few days" of Mr. Jack Bauer that its just impossible not to love, always saving the world in the shadow...make me fall in love forever with this stop beatin' heart clock plots.
Amazing everything and everyone.
War Horse (2011)
One of the best adventure films of a full inspired Spielberg
War Horse is simple. Don't have any kind of tramps, spin or turns in his plot, but is a great example of how Steven Spielberg is one of the best story tellers in the history of cinema. This movie is a powerful piece of feeling, and a prodigy of technical talent.
War Horse is made it at the "old school style" with a marvelous photography, an amazing soundtrack, a camera that just work close to perfection; and all of this with no overdose of CGI like the films of nowadays.
I' ve seen all the movies os his director and im pretty sure that this one have THE BEST SHOT ever made by Spielberg:
The scene of the Horse running out by the battle field... Because is just AWESOME. And see this part of the movie could be a good reason that deserves watch his more of two hours, and all the respect and admiration for one director that made us love that horse, like if was yours.
Beautiful film.
X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009)
Oh, God.... Why? So bad that hurts...
A full deception, ridiculous, with a plot so awful, poor produced, with a special effects that looks like a tv movie, a story of love so borring... resume: nothing works.
The time just past and kick more and more this movie, when you have seen the last part: Logan.
Everything goes just sadly wrong for this first film.
Hugh Jackman is totally lost as Ryan Reynolds.
Back to the Future Part III (1990)
Still be the greatest trilogy of all times!
I hope that Robert Zemeckis never break our hearts, with a remake a reboot, spin offs, or garbage like that.
A lot of generations just LOVE this movies, and I think that Back to the Future Trilogy still be the best adventure-Sci-fi trilogy, with original script.
Pure romanticism of the 80´s and 90´s no CGI, a perfect work from his director, that it´s just simply awesome!
BTTF III always be in our hearts because it´s just a piece of the pop culture.
Forever and ever.
And this is very Heavy.
Lady Bird (2017)
Lady Boredom
Absolutely disappointed with this film.
Ridiculous dialogues, absurd characters that are only stuffed in the history.
In fact, all the characters are unfriendly and we never connect with them.
Mad and dumb mothers, silly daughters with artistic pretensions that we never got to know...
Cheap sexism on the script of her director, which only includes men who are weepy, shallow, who use women for his sexual pleasure, or are depressed.and do not contribute anything to the story. (What's wrong with the father? And with the gay boyfriend?)
The soundtrack appears and disappears, the plot advances in fits and starts and the pretensions of her director bore when half an hour has passed, and they sadly feel like two.
This movie would have been gold in the hands of Jim Jarmusch, Jason Reitman or Denis Villeneuve...
incomprehensible his presence at the Oscars.
