Oppenheimer (2023)
Two Years too early to use the AI dilemma as a modern metaphor
This Movie is overrated. Yes, the Cast is Top notch. Yes, the Score and the visuals are good.
But the rest? This is basically House of Cards, the Movie. And i mean the bad, boring aspects of it, the political intricacies. I went to see the Movie for the technical aspects, the making of the Bomb. The Morale implications, which has so many parallels to todays AI dilemma: If we don't develop it, potential Bad actors will, and they will use it against us. Instead of focussing on that, we get to see a political trial that obviously is rigged- We all know it, the chatacters know it, yet we spend 2/3 the time of the Moving on it. This is insanely boring, as we know the outcome early on.
Imagine this movie made 2 Years in the Future: This could have been part Biopic, part Statement around the current AI dilemma: If we don't continue development, bad actors will. If the A Bomb was the defining development of last century, AI is the one of the current one. What a perfect metaphor this one could have been, had it been done a bit later. That's what bums me the most about it.
Like it stands however: In the end, movies should Entertain. Ideally, while educating us a bit. This movie does educate- but it fails to Entertain.
The Matrix Resurrections (2021)
fanservice but theres hope
I'd say its 90% fan service that makes fun of itself and 10% that have _some_ potential for sequels to come.
What i kind of liked was the whole meta story of lana you can clearly see every once in a while.
The explanation for the ressurection is a joke though imo.
In summary: a disappointment with hope.
Wir sind die Welle (2019)
terrible
Badly written, badly acted, stereotypes left right & center. i have to rate it this low, even tho really want to love the story, but this is just so cringy-terribad, i just can't give it any more stars.
