As a huge fan of Tarantino I had high expectations... Which it honestly didn't live up to. When it released I couldn't appreciate it, I was expecting something completely different and I went to see it with a completely wrong mindset. I saw it again yesterday and it was far better than I remember. They captured the late 60s vibe perfectly. Everything from the haircuts to the scenery and the dialogue, it felt genuine. This is not a typical Tarantino movie tho, it differs from the rest of his work. Not counting the final scenes with the flamethrower and all that. My only problem with this movie is the story, it really wasn't that interesting. This movie is more about the atmosphere than anything else. And the actors did a fantastic job, couldn't find a single weak link. Well deserved Oscar for Brad Pitt.
In short. A decent movie that will be remembered but far from the best Tarantino has to offer.

After watching Watership Down I had to see this one out of curiosity. And as a genuine dog lover, this was truly painful to watch.
Gotta praise the creators here, in the 80s you didn't really have a lot of adult animation.. It was mainly targeted towards children.. This one is full of blood and dirty language.. Don't think I'm gonna show this to my 7 year old daugther anytime soon. That aside.. The animation is tight, the voice acting is superb and it's easy to get invested in the story.. More specifically, they didn't really give me a choice.. The first scene alone was disturbing enough and it set the tone for the rest of the movie. I have yet to read the novels but in terms of movie quality I think Watership Down is slightly better. But it was a really decent "continuation" if you will.
It was dark and disturbing but still gripping. Definitely not for the faint of heart and probably not something you wanna see twice.
8/10.

It truly was great television. No fakery, no staging.. Just raw footage.. And to anyone thinking it gets quiet and the fighting stops once the cameras goes off.. Think again.
I know this family on a personal level and I know there's a lot of split opinions when it comes to the supposed "Abuse" they had to "Endure".. Take it from me.. Jakob, Filip, Henrik and the oldest one which I prefer not to name.. They're just spoiled, egocentric, narcissist and severely lacking in character. They were never abused during their childhood and they know it. They dumped their father for financial reasons and that's where it ends.. Yeah the father smacked his daugther with a towel because she was acting like a diva and from there the situation escalated. The brothers desperately tried to get this show removed from NRK because the father is the center of attention and their egos doesn't know how to deal with it. It comes down to jealousy and greed, plain and simple.
That being said.. I'm not the biggest fan of the father, I don't think his methods are morally correct but guess what?? They agreed to his terms, he said from the beginning and I quote: "You're either in or you're out. If you're in, sit down, shut up and do as you're told!".. I repeat: They agreed to this.. No one forced them, it was a choice they made. These spoiled brats owe their success to their father alone and they repay him by suing him and trying to make him look like a soulless devil.. The ungratefulness is honestly sickening.
They will be burried in court and they will lose their sponsors in the process.
I truly believe this was great television, some of the finest reality Norway ever had to offer.. It got canceled for completely idiotic reasons and if there's any justice in the world the brothers will pay the consequences.
Cheers!
