Moving On (2022)
Bad Writing and Directing and Wooden Acting
Not a good movie. It can't figure out if it wants to be a tragedy or a comedy. It leans heavily toward tragedy until the last 15 minutes and then tries to go ha ha ha it's all a big joke. The whole motivation for it (spoiler alert) is a sexual assualt 46 years earlier by the husband of a recently deceased friend of Fonda's character who never accepts he commited an assault (Brent Cavanaugh anyone?) and is incensed when Fonda confronts him. There is a semblence of real dramatic tension here that gets toally wasted at the end when the writers/director get cold feet and decide to go "just kidding." One of Tomlin's weakest performances in her career. And to the extent it turns on anything dramatic at all, it turns on the 19th century notion that the appropriate punishment for rape is death. Fonda and Tomlin's people surely slept through the script sreening.
Sex Education (2019)
Juvenilia
Having taught sex education to college students, I found this show sophomoric. In the opening scene, a high school male is supposed to have faked an ejaculation. There is no high school aged male who is having sex who can fake an ejaculation. That doesn't happen. They ejaculate.
Nor do high school students constantly talk about sex, not are they invariably either bullies or victims. And they rarely have multiple partners, if they have sexual partners at all.
They're actually fairly shy about sexual matters and can be very delicate.
Whoever wrote this shows knows zero about sex and very little about high school.
Mozart in the Jungle (2014)
BS
All I can tell you is that as a trained musician married for 10 years to a freelance musician, the drug premises are preposterous. Not even a used car sales person could live like that. Ridiculous.
