Poker Face (2023)
Its good and entertaining, but it has its issues
Its a fun and clever show. But with some bad tendencies.
The Pros:
1) Very entertaining, never really a dull moment.
2) Clever, the show has a clear layout in how plots get exposed; kind of a wash, rinse, and repeat flow, but done intelligently.
3) The lead actress is very charismatic and has her unique personality, actress looks young and cute for a 43 year old.
4) Special cameos from current and former Hollywood actors.
The Cons:
1) the flow of the show gets repetitive after a while(though somewhat fixed later). It also uses the "Villain of the week" style.
2) As clever as the show is, certain plots don't add up and revelations seem to happen out of convenience.
3) The Main character is a Mary Sue and the center of attention. Presented as the clumsy and surprisingly smart underdog, but nonetheless very well protected. Obnoxious at times too.
4)Throws real world political jabs here and there towards a particular party, unsurprisingly praises the opposite political party.
Good show overall, it delivers in entertainment. Its also clever(for the 20th time). But it does get repetitive.
The protagonist is cute, unique and charming, you may love her, but you may also find her obnoxious.
And although not much was used here, politics need to stay away from shows, they ruin things.
Speak No Evil (2022)
Film makes you unnecessarily angry
Its starts out decent. But its those films where the character do things that are obnoxious.
As the film progresses and things start to get unraveled, the protagonists start making really dumb choices for the sake of creating plot. And these stupid choices become more and more frequent, constantly making one get angry and to start yelling at the TV.
The villains are also obnoxious. They act unapologetic and believe that their deeds are innocent when they are obviously not.
I did not enjoyed this movie and definitely do not recommend it. I prefer entertainment over watching something that makes you feel obnoxious and angry.
Hocus Pocus 2 (2022)
Only good thing were the original Witches
As you read the title, that was about the only good thing. The original actresses kept it going. But wasnt enough for me to find the film likeable.
The 3 teenagers were woke stereotypes. The leader is a 16 year old black girl who is "always right", always wins the argument. Followed by a chubby latina, and a white girl who is reminded occasionally that shes is wrong.
The film throws subliminal PC messages here and there, acting was bad, and clitches were one can already know what they are going to say or do next.
Only good thing is the original actress and a few jokes here and there. The mayor was kind of entertaining to watch. But that's about it.
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (2022)
Not too Shabby
As an anti woke person whos been cringing at Marvel/Disney for a while, it was pretty good. Its not a feminist show, but yes at times She Hulks looks better than Hulk but more so just for humor and her showing off her unique attributes. Both Bruce and Jennifer have a good chemistry. And the 1st episode really was about her introduction. Though i didnt like how quickly she turned into She Hulk, pacing was a little quick. The episode's villain looked like a cosplay character. But it was a fun episode. And let me tell you, She Hulk has a nice pair of buns and Steve Rogers actually got to f...
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021)
Good action and plot, but too much wokeness
Like you read. Good action scenes and plot. But obvious race card pulling. The black man gets put down and can't succeed America z all while making the white man with blonde hair and blue eyes look like the villain. The director himself is like a black mixed guy so this isnt surprising. .
Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
About a 7.5 out of 10/No spoilers in this review
Movie was not as bad as the naysayers mentioned.
Characters were decent for the most part. Some were more/less likeable than the previous installments, and some unfortunately were brought down in importance. But movie overall had decent character development.
Plot and flow of the movie is debatable. There is so much going on screen(fast pacing); good for keeping you awake and fun to see at the Bigscreen and give you your money's worth. But with so many subplots and action sequences you may lose track of the main plot purpose. Movie is about 2:20 minutes but it feels like a 3:00-3:30 hour movie, dragged more than necessary. Plot twists were a mix of yays and nays.
Effects were great. So many of them and so many lights! Though with a few errors here and there.
Fixes/errors, extras, etc. Movie went on to fix issues that would carry on from episodes 7&8. Some fixes were done right while others just made things cringier or were down right scrapped for the better or worse. Fan service was there, reliving past Star Wars moments in its own special way. There was some leftist and gender agenda/propaganda going on that would make viewers role their eyes.
It was a fun and decent watch. Well worth to see at the theaters due to the effects and lights; characters were funny and lively. Plenty of action scenes. Some cringy moments and clitche' here and there but overall it was worth the ticket. My best one so far of the three latest numerical movies. Definitely walked out happier than I did with the Last Jedi.
Ready Player One (2018)
Not what I excpected
The movie was ok, but just couldn't keep my attention, it was on life support by the Easter Eggs and media references.
Plot is about the creator of the system who became a Steve Jobs and left hidden keys thru out the program, but the character just didn't touch my soul and was over glorified.
Speaking of the characters, they were also ok, but nothing special(except for the Breaking Bad Badger like character).
The "CGI" was decent but was all over the place.
And the movie just had many overlooked mistakes, I can see Youtube's EWW channel heavily picking on this 1. One example is how everybody is blindly walking with their "VRs" around the real world without pre-caution, I'm surprised not a single soul was hit by a car.
North (1994)
4.2... really guys??
It seems that some person's horrendous critique started a chain of loathing and bashing on this film. May be not in every respect, but this movie is really funny if the mind is set to view it as spoofs and comedy. Some people may get insulted about the cultural stereotypes this film offers, but have forgotten that this movie is just to get some good laughs and not to be taken serious.
* Spoiler * The plot is about a 10 year old boy, who is dreaming of traveling the world to find new parents. Considering that and its comedic genre, its obvious a child would portray a Texan to be a cowboy or a Canadian to wear an Eskimo suit. Why should anyone get offended by that?? --------------------------------------- This film displayed a well known terrific cast and had an interesting and original plot. Although some of its humor may be cheesy and somewhat offensive, the rest of the movie would have anyone gush out drinks from their noses and hit the rewind button a handful of times.... "Give him the emperor cut!!" lmao... (you'll get it after watching the film)
