Cosmic Sin (2021)

What?
1 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The credits are rolling as I write this.

I don't actually understand what I've just watched - like an alien virus or something, and their leader was Bruce Willis' ex, but then they surrendered after some random pulse gun from earth shot something at them?

Absolutely awful film, the continuity errors and editing are shameful, and the storyline makes no sense.

Avoid!

Extraction (2020)

OK Plot, Immense Action Scenes, Hemsworth Nails It
25 April 2020
I'm not much of a writer, so I'll keep the review short.

The plot is nothing new, but is interesting enough. However, Chris Hemsworth knocks it out the park with his performance - I really didn't expect that from him, but he is awesome in this.

The action scenes are great, and some of the camera work and filming techniques are fantastic.

The film is a 6/10, but I gave it a 7/10 for the action scenes and Hemsworth's performance.

Deadpool (2016)
8/10
Really enjoyed
26 February 2016
Warning: Spoilers
***May Contain Spoilers***

I would give this movie a 7.6 or 7.7 if I could, but I've given it an 8 because it deserves more than a 7.

This movie was a breath of fresh air compared to the usual 'We've got to save the world/mankind!' superhero movie that Hollywood has been pumping out in recent years.

Ryan Reynolds is perfectly cast for the role of Deadpool, I don't think any other actor could have played the part better. I think he has a natural delivery for the jokes/quips being delivered from start to finish.

Deadpool himself is unashamedly selfish and is the first superhero I have encountered who is not concerned with morals, ethics or helping anyone else but himself.

The storyline wasn't brilliant, but it served as a great way of introducing Deadpool to new audiences and I'll look forward to the sequel and hope they do something cleverer with the plot next time.

I didn't think I would like this movie, but I'm glad I went to see it as I laughed all the way through. It's more of a comedy than an action movie,

I enjoyed the film - go and see it peeps

A film of two halves - Enjoyable, but it could have been so much better
26 March 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I watched this film the other night, and although I enjoyed it for the most part, it could have been so much better.

----Spoilers----

I'll keep my review short.

The film is about the crew of a deep-space vessel discovering a lost space ship stationed on the edge of a black hole. On entering, all is not what it seems!!!

The production does well to build suspense and a sense of mystery throughout the first half of the film. The visuals are great for their time, and the story kept me wanting to find out what was going on.

Maximilian Schell gives a fantastic and credible performance, and some of the concepts in the film I'm sure have been the basis for future sci- fi films and programmes.

However, the film fell apart in the second half. I noticed more than a few plot-holes, poor character development of the crew, terrible dialogue, nonsensical decisions by the characters and questions which remain unanswered.

I'm sure this could have been a sci-fi classic if the writers had spent a week or two more ironing out the plot, giving more depth to some of the characters and improving the dialogue.

I gave this film 5 stars. I think if Maximilian Schell hadn't have given such a good performance, I would have rated it lower.

The film had a good concept, but just failed to deliver in the end. I would recommend seeing this film if you are a sci-fi fan in order to further your understanding of the sci-fi genre. However, as a stand alone film, don't bother.
