Fibber McGee and Molly (1959)
Not the radio team
The stars of the TV series were not the same as the hit radio series and it was not well received.
Den 12. mann (2017)
We were on the edge of our seats...
...really exciting climax with eerie local Sami folk singing and massive herd of reindeer - epic and uplifting ending! And it really happened.
Honest Man: The Life of R. Budd Dwyer (2010)
A very poignant story especially the last half hour
A very poignant story especially the last half hour. His wife son daughter and friends have obviously been involved in the making of this documentary...
Murder Mountain (2018)
Not up to Netflix's recent high standards...
Overlong with much repetition and some reconstructions in poor taste.
However the subject is very interesting in itself especially the failure of the war on drugs (and how close it was to really being a war in Humboldt county) and the success (apparently) of legalization...
The Queen and I (2018)
Not funny - do not waste your time
I can only agree with the other comments here:
It is situated 20+ years ago without any frame of reference to place the watcher in the time period. Many of the characters are now dead, and unknown to many watchers (Princess Margaret, Queen Mother) etc.
Jokes about Princess Di dating Dodi Fayed are obviously not funny in hindsight.
It portrays everyone in a nasty manner, 'the Royals' and 'the Poor' are equally shown to be lazy/backbiting/worthless people.
Yuk. Yuk. Yuk.
Watch the brilliant 'The Windors' TV series instead which pokes fun at today's Royals in a playful and very funny way.
The Survivalist (2015)
Yuk - don't watch this with your Nan...
...pervy and yucky moment 20 minutes in. We turned off.
The Greatest Showman (2017)
Warbling tweenie songs irritate from the start
If are between 9 and 12 you will think that this is a great work of art.
We could take more than 10 minutes of this bubble-gum warbling nonsense.
The opening is stupid. The second song is cloying and obvious.
Designed for children (and adults with limited musical taste.)
Costumes good though.
The Quiller Memorandum (1966)
Alec Guinness
"Cliché ridden story" from Alec Guinness's diary after watching his own performance in "The Quiller Memorandum" on TV in 1980.
This is the film that trashed the possibility of turning the Quiller series of books into a film franchise.
It ended Ivan Foxwell's career as a film producer.
On Harold Pinter's script: "The worst type of hack writing" Joanne Klein (who is a Pinter expert).
"Did nothing to further Alec's career" Piers Paul Read in the authorised biography for Alec Guinness.
"George Segal portrays an unattractive, stupid, sarcastic lout with aplomb." Movie Orphan
