NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service: Enemy Combatant (2016)
What ever happened to NCIS ?
This series has been going downhill ever since Ziva "left". Kate Todd (2 seasons) and Ziva David (about 8) both made NCIS seem to be plausible. Bishop probably appeals to video game and comic book enthusiasts who revel in her "zany" quirks. Tony Di Nozzo was also a realistic part of this program who helped make NCIS one of my favorites. Today the stories just have lost their realism. It's a shame but after 13 years the original creativity has been sacrificed to a certain audience's desire to see humor in crime stories. Crime usually includes death which is always tragic. Ducky's droll humor was real. The 3 brothers "inside" NCIS interrogating potential suitors is ridiculous. Security limitations would not allow it. Of course in fantasy land anything is possible.
Experiment (2005)
Awful
Badly synchronized audio together with silly lines and mimicking of "foreign speak". I really don't understand how or where money gets raised to make movies like this. A mish-mash of diabolical characters scheming to perform "dastardly deeds". Although the plot is beyond being obvious I won't spoil the joy of any that are courageous enough to see this thing through the end. Be prepared to feel like bursting out laughing when the really "bad guys" pull some dirty tricks (for the benefit of the creative minds of the authors) with their eyes almost popping out of their orbits.
Prague is a truly beautiful city and that is about the only positive aspect of this movie.
NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service: Twilight (2005)
The ending of this episode was "announced" a year before
After viewing all the episodes (DVD) of season 1 and season 2 we were shown a not too obvious "hint" of how "Twilight" would end at the very beginning of "Reveille".
When I saw it (episode 1.23) it just seemed like a bad dream.
"Bete Noir" (i.e. nightmare) is also a recurring reference. The term gets mentioned in 2 episodes as well as being the title of one episode.
I don't want to spoil things for anybody that hasn't seen this episode.
Let's just say that NCIS as a series is much more realistic than most TV series are. The "good guy" does not always win in the end.
Sad but true.
I think that is why I feel that NCIS deserves such high marks and is worthwhile recommending to others. The pace is much faster than most TV shows. There is never a dull moment.
Red Serpent (2003)
Somebody said this is the worst movie he had ever seen. I agree
Defining this movie as awful is a compliment. I can't imagine that money could make a PRO such as Roy Schieder lend his name to such a plot less and silly movie. After the naive exploding cars (not shown just heard) and stuff the ending is the cherry on the cake. This movie deserves the Razzie of the Century. Anybody that reads these comments and then watches this movie anyway will not be able to say they hadn't been warned. The dubbing out of sync makes even the most terrible of villains become a clown. The snarling between people "fighting for their lives" just seems to be slapstick. The "technological" effects show screens with the pertinent details of each main character. The speed of these screens is so exaggeratedly fast that not even a trained fast reader could do without the DVD remote. Luckily for all the serious movie lovers of this world the efforts of these "craftsmen" have not had a sequel. Bad taste, bad costumes, bad acting, bad directing, no continuity. I have never seen a movie about which not one good thing could be said until I saw this one.
White Gold (2004)
Technically Competent but with a useless plot
This is my first post. This movie has some good car chase scenes but there are other things that are simply amateurish. The soundtrack was not 100% in sync with the video. I at first thought it was dubbed but after re-playing some scenes I realized that it is just poor workmanship. There are some good chase scenes in and around Moscow (and good driving). The English subtitles for the Russian dialogs sometimes contain grammar errors in particular in some verbs. I gave the movie a low grade because the people who made it could have done better even if they had a limited budget. The players, stunt men and all the other staff are Russian and I have seen other Russian movies that were much better than this one. The plot seems to be simply pointless. Besides showing some old footage from movies of the 1910/1920 era there is no logical explanation (for me anyway) of how Vlad's great grandfather was able to get out of Russia with a map and other information concerning the gold heist. This is in stark contrast with other historical Russian events. The GRU and KGB controlled everything in Russia for about 50 years. Those guys may not have been nice but they used their iron fisted control techniques to enslave an entire population. I don't see how Vlad's great-grandfather could have escaped the unwanted attention of the GRU/KGB harboring a secret as important as the Gold heist's whereabouts. Old series B pirate films used the phrase "dead men tell no tales". The KGB folks applied that principle scrupulously.
