How It Ends (2021)
Food for thought, interesting, good pace all along and funny.
I really enjoyed this film. I'm 45 years old and after all my life watching movies and series mostly everything I watch nowadays seems to be a copy of a copy. This movie didn't bore me at all. It makes you think about life, about forgiveness, about how holding grudges mostly harms you and about remember that this life is only a game and that you should never leave the child in you behind. It was fast paced, ironic at times and funny most of the time. I also loved all the performances. A really fine film with a lot of talented people. Really grateful to have watched this. Thanks guys!
1917 (2019)
Slow and boring
I went to the cinema to watch this film hoping it to be some sort of Saving Private Ryan or Enemy at the gates only to be really disappointed. Me and the person I went to watch the movie with were completely bored by the film and so were the people around us commenting the film as we left the movie theater.
The film was low and boring and you quickly realise this is going to be the case in the first 15 minutes of film. I really don't get how this film got the golden globes over The Irishman or Joker. Not at all. Both are much better films than 1917 and both have better performances (although 1917 has good performances also, nothing to complain on that area). I was really disappointed with the film and with the Golden Globes result.
El reino (2018)
Great script, brilliant directing and some really outstanding performances
This is without a doubt the best Spanish movie I have seen in years (and I'm Spanish). It depicts the politician corruption in an excellent way. For me, the script was really really good, the directing was 100% on point and the performances were amazing. There is an actor called Luis Zahera who I didn't even know and it gives the most credible performance in the movie (as Cabrera). He is soooooooo good. The scene at the balcony should grant him all the awards he can get in his category this year. You cannot go better than that. Impossible. Definitely a must-watch film. Go to the theater and support the crew. This is as cinema at its best.
Night Moves (2013)
95% boring
Few and poor dialogs, almost no tension at all and boring in general. This is one of those movies that as it progresses, you start to realize that nothing of interest is ever going to happen in the whole movie and when it ends it just confirms your fears. The acting is the only thing decent in this movie, although Heisenberg's role is kind of off in my opinion —too jumpy throughout the whole story—. His character also reminded me of Ryan Gosling's role in Drive: an autistic kid who does not answer properly. It does not seem coherent to me that an environmentalist, which I see more as a conscious person, can be this tense all the time, even with the task at hand.
My advice: If you have 2 hours free, do not waste them on this movie.
