I Bought a Vampire Motorcycle (1990)
Amusing film that's a classic b movie now.
I've seen this flick a couple times and rather interestingly for me personally was I saw the bike or rather its fiber glass counterpart with wheelchair motors being made in a garage in Basall Common, the chap that made it worked in a garage owned by me dad's mate. I would be over there riding my bike in the field owned by my dad's mate and I would see it being assembled. Cool thing to see though. Neil Morrisey played the part well and it was during his boon days. A b movies go, it's a pretty amusing take on the vampire tale and it doesn't take itself too seriously, plus it was back in the days where film production was hand made so some respect is needed for these types of films regardless of the cheese factor.
Tayna pechati drakona (2019)
It's all over the place this one
Like many Chinese films, this one uses Arnold and Jackie just to bate you into watching it, the title of the film is Not accurate to what is being shown, the iron mask itself is only held by the wearer for about 20 minutes of the film and then it's thrown out Never to be seen again, the main protagonist who wears the iron mask becomes a secondary character towards the end of the story as it focuses on a Princess , it's at this point the film then changes to a story about the dragon seal to control the mysterious dragon. That's enslaved a town by some crazy princess counterfeit and her goons one of which reminds me of lord raiden from mk. It's all a bit crazy really, Arnold and Jackie have a fight which ends up being a kind of draw, who of guessed? The visuals are a little bit cheesy but watchable, the audio for me watching it on prime, was strange, you had English actors that looked like they were dubbed, and looked like they were speaking a different language. Then it sounded like they were dubbed back to English so the lipsync was way out. Occasionally at all come together again and they would be speaking in English and the lip sync was on point but it would drift in and out constantly. I'm not sure what was going on there. Obviously the Chinese folk were all dubbed that acceptable. It has the usual Jackie Chan fighting type style so it'll keep you entertained if you're into that. If not, I would give it a swerve.
Andor (2022)
Well produced, particularly from the audio perspective.
What we have here is a quality production with great visuals, solid story, paced character development and above all else, excellent audio, the background music portrays a seriousness, the attention to the audio is just superb, minimal music during dialogue draws you in to the story like you're being let in on secrets.
This is a Star Wars series for an older audience not for the kids as it's dialogue centric with deep story lines, not a massive amount light sabres and blaster battles.
It would of been nice to see more actor languages as it's a little over crowded with British actors, but as I'm British I'm fine with that, I'm just used to hearing Americans in modern Star Wars films, and that feels a scarcity in this production.
None of this detracts from it's captivating charm and I hope Disney continue to develop its storyline. It feels like it's at least a decade before Rogue One (which I might add is my favourite modern Star Wars film, again a British production) so there's plenty of scope for development.
Well done disney.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021)
Good stuff enjoyed and emotive
Clearly inspired by BLM, this is a shake up that Hollywood needs, the story was a bit stark (pun intended) through, and the problem with these spin offs is that they imagine a world without the other avengers which is not practical, I mean if the world had an uprising of those that were labelled terrorists would the avengers stay out of it, doubtful?
Obviously in reality Disney can't afford cameos from cast of the avengers series but they could of integrated them a bit more even if it was video calls, just felt a bit disjointed from the marvel universe but they all do, like wandavision where were the rest of the avengers!
Falcon is effectively an angelic iron man which it cool and i love the new get up he got, he makes a good cap.
Jiu Jitsu (2020)
This is a happy shopper Chinese predator rip off
It's amusing to watch if only so you can compare scenes to predator like the Chinese guy who came from nowhere that looking up at the alien in the trees, mmmm where's that been done???
Nick Cage must of been bored stuck at home during the pandemic so no wonder he took this on.
The cgi was done with blender by school kids, funny though.
The dialog is all whack!!
Find something else to watch.
Hellboy (2019)
Ruined and should be cert 18
This film is frankly an awful reboot of the original, why do modern directors feel the need to over do it on the cgi gore and swearing, it simply tightens the audience and distracts from the story lines, this one was all over the place with characters that just made me feel uneasy.
Hellboy himself was a good solid and amusing character well played by David, but the rest were just meh... way too much CGI in modern films and it get's in the way of the flow of the film, very distracting.
The Orville (2017)
With Brannan Braga involved it has to be good
I loved Enterprise and found the storylines great in that, the exact same can be said about the orvill the show goes from strength to strength with great stories that tackle modern issues tempered with Seths humorous style in a sci-fi format.
Enterprise (2001)
Magnificent
Such an underestimated series and by far the best ever star trek, mainly because the story lines are so good and there's solid continuity, i luv how previous stories crop up every so often and series 3 for me was the peak. I didn't think Scott Backula would be a good casting but he's definitely got better over the seasons and stands as good as Patrick Stewart imo.
Shame it never ran the full series set like tng but it was good while it lasted.
I like the technological vulnerability they have to deal with a lot!
It's worth your time.
Sex Education (2019)
Brilliant show.
It touches on many complex subjects in such a jovial manner and very cleverly played out, sometimes you just want to slap Otis, it's worth your time.
The only thing that drives me crazy is the weird time-warp stuff going on, you've got 80's and 90's cars all over the place and people using iPhones and Androids, dated furniture and TVs with brand new stuff.
I'm not sure what the intention here is but I kind like it, maybe it's to enable older viewers to identify with it?
Pacific Rim Uprising (2018)
Different but great
I found this film much more entertaining than the original mainly due to the robot fighting scenes that occurred in the daytime. Obviously it looked more computerised and the plot was a little crazy but nonetheless a thoroughly enjoyable film in my humble opinion. I also couldn't get over how a like Eastwoods looks and mannerisms are in comparison to his father.
Go watch it if you want amazing action much like the first.
