Die Wand (2012)
Scrambled with nothing of substance.
I don't understand the high ratings, I don't even understand the ratings of 4 and above, unless they are so unlike me, a 63 year old man who's disabled and unfortunately I watch a great deal of movies and informational videos on YouTube.
Sorry for the spoilers but I need to get this in writing to warn others like me who enjoy a good philosophical video about a person finding themselves in a sudden, strange, otherworldly situation. I've been to Austria, it's beautiful rugged country that is full of life, the people who speak English wish native English speakers to speak our language so they can practice with us. I'm saying that because I can only think that this is so mixed up because someone went astray with the translation, otherwise I can't imagine why this movie does things in the order it's in.
First, as someone else mentioned, she shares her solitude with her dog, Lynx, which sounds like Lukes in her accent. Then, the first night she wakes up with a cat next to her, the cat has one kitten and she names it Pearl, I kept waiting to hear the name of the Queen, which is what a mother cat is called, but she never calls it by any name! The cow, dog, beautiful kitten all have names but the cat out lives them but never gets a name. The poor dog dies 3 times, possibly more because nothing in the movie flows, instead we're jerked back and forth through time with little indication of when things actually happen. The kitten, Pearl dies, but only once and it seems to fit in to that particular time, the cow, Bella gives birth but her bull calf is the second one who never gets a name, even when it's killed by the only other human who seems to be inside the wall.
Then there's the wall, a stream runs through the valley and neaby the place she first encounters the wall, is the ravine the stream must go under, around, or something because there's all the snowmelt and she doesn't find herself innudated by the buldup of water when the snow melts. Through the entire movie, we only see evidence of the wall at 4 places, most people would follow it around as far as they can in case there's a gap to pass through and be free and tell others about the phenomenon.
It's rough, not at all following anything that would make sense, sure it's supposed to be that way because the wall coming out of nowhere is a total mystery, but we, as viewers tend to enjoy at least some continuity in what stories we watch. I rarely give one star to a movie, but this one, I totally feel like I got robbed of the time it took to listen to the monotonous monologue and I went all of the way through because I expected to see and hear why so many people gave it high ratings.
A Quiet Place Part II (2020)
A second suspense thriller!
I don't rate a 10 very often, and, of course there are problems with every story but, forget about your world for 90 minutes, get involved in the survival of the few people left in at least this part of the world. It's not 100% necessary to see the first movie, but it will definitely help you if you understand the back story about how this happened. Look how many people have rated it high but didn't post written reviews, over 9,000 so far and it has a rating of 4.5 stars, so it's definitely worth watching!
Star Leaf (2015)
Just bad.
I thought I'd put a show on while I was doing other things, instead of what could have been a great show, I got this. It's fairly pointless and a head scratcher, which means I was scratching my head wondering why I watched it.
