Star Trek: Discovery (2017)
"The Orville" is more Star Rrek then "Star Trek: Disccovery"
Yes, there are new episodes...
Oh i love Star Trek. I watched it often as a child. I would like to love the new show, but they make it really hard for me. I dont like the characters, and Star Trek is all about the characters. No cgi can save the show, if the characters sucks.
In the old Star Trek, the Enterprise had to stay in space, since it is too heavy to land on planets. They had to use Shuttles or the more modern way of teleportation. In the new episode, they crash two ships head on into the ground, to protect the town from flying rocks.. Really??
At this point im just disappointed on how unrealistic this show has become.
I give it 5 stars because of the high production quality. A shame, because i bet no one will watch it twice. I watched tv-shows like "band of brothers", "game of thrones" or "lord of the rings" more than once, but "Star Trek Discovery" has zero rewatchability. But thats only my taste buds, so give it at least a try if you have the chance. Maybe you like it.
Avatar: The Last Airbender (2024)
A Visually Stunning Avatar: The Last Airbender (2023) Hampered by Uneven Performances
Strengths:
Immersive Worldbuilding: The series boasts impressive CGI, bringing the fantastical landscapes and bending styles to life with vivid detail. The world feels rich and layered, drawing viewers into the complex political and cultural dynamics.
Visually Captivating: The diverse environments the characters traverse are stunning, from soaring mountains to lush forests, further amplifying the immersive experience.
Weaknesses:
Inconsistent Acting: While some actors deliver nuanced and engaging performances, others fall short. Certain characters lack emotional depth or clarity in their delivery, making it difficult to connect with them and fully understand their motivations. This inconsistency can be distracting and impact the overall emotional impact of the story.
Pacing Concerns: Some viewers might find the pacing uneven, particularly in the early episodes. While this could be attributed to world-building, it might leave some wanting a tighter narrative focus.
Overall:
The live-action "Avatar: The Last Airbender" presents a visually stunning and immersive world, but its inconsistent acting performances can hinder the emotional connection and overall impact of the story. However, fans of the original series and those seeking a visually captivating adventure might still find it enjoyable.
The Witcher (2019)
doesn't feel right
Hey, I'm a Witcher fan, and I would like the witcher series, but I dont really do.
I know it sounds silly, but i really have a problem with this colored lenses. Sorry, but the 40 years old hulk series looks better in this regard. Are there not better lenses, that blend in better? Im pretty sure they exist.
Another thing is the fake blood. It obvously is fake. They added it in post-production, but it could look much better.
The cgi is not very good, but acceptable. The story is lame... Who is writing this garbage.
My problem is, the whole thing ins't convincing. It feels like a B-movie production. What a sham. I am disappointed.
Band of Brothers (2001)
A masterpiece
This is a thanks to the makers of band of brothers. It is by far the best mini-Serie there is and you can be proud of that. It is truely a masterpiece!
Tokyo Vice (2022)
Sponsored by tobacco industry
I would rate the show higher, but the amount of cigarettes are annoying. They definitely took money from the tobacco industry, like so many other shows these days.
Invasion (2021)
Okay, it is not very good
I had to lower the score to a 7. Invasion suffers like many of the new shows with unlikable characters/actors.
