Ex Machina (2014)
10/10
A Mesmorisingly Thought-Provoking Sci-Fi Film
15 May 2015
Ex Machina is not your typical sci-fi film. It is bold in questioning complex philosophical ideas. Personally, I feel that the pace of the film is not too slow nor is it too fast, it's simply perfect. Unlike other sci-fi films where they often kind of explicitly show off their cool CGI and VFX, which in my opinion, is a rather boring and meaningless way to do so, Ex Machina, on the other hand, slowly and quietly guides the audience's attention in such a subtle way that it creates a totally natural ambiance for the audience, making them feel as if they are actually in it with the characters in the film.

The film keeps its audience entertained by posing scenes with intellectually interesting dialogues between the characters that always provoke contemplations and explorations on what these ideas mean to the audience themselves, making it so mesmerising and stand out from all the other sci-fi shows that only please the eyes and not the mind.

However, I feel that the ending is rather weak, a wild ending, which contrasts with quiet atmosphere of the film, would make the movie ends it on a more impactful note and would have made it even more memorable.

I am overall very satisfied with the technical side of the film. The cinematography is deliciously captivating. The cast's performance was simply wonderful. Alex Garland has done a fantastic job.

One Of The Best
14 May 2015
I binged watched season 1 and 2 in 3 days and this is honestly one of the best shows out there right now. this show just gets better and better. the first few episodes were slow and seemed like an ordinary teen drama but it got better, more complicated and simply entertaining as it progressed. the character developments are visibly awesome. each character has their personality and depth. everyone is realistic, unlike common superheroes shows, where there are good guys and bad guys. on The 100, that line is too thin, almost invisible. plus, the show never stops surprising you, which makes it always so fun to watch. at the same time, it can get extremely intense.

Worth Watching
29 September 2012
this movie is overall good. good movie casting choice and the storyline has successfully conveyed a meaningful message to the audience. it also has reflected the lives of the people in the America so it is relateble to almost everyone. even though I feel that there are a few unneeded scenes and a few details which have not been mentioned in the movie. all I have to say is that I loved it, it's funny and meaningful and I recommend everyone to watch it too. I don't understand why some people think it's silly and stupid when I actually cried at the touching ending. I don't think it's silly or stupid because I actually did learn something from this movie. 8/10.

A Super Inspiring Documentary
10 September 2012
believe me, I thought Katy Perry was just like any other pop singers that only sing for money and fame. I was wrong.

the documentary shows how she got to be one of the best and most popular pop singers nowadays, her love life, her career life, her hard work, her ups and downs and etc. and I promise you that as you watch along, you will not be only be able to get to learn important life lessons from her, but also how to look at life from her perspective, a whole new perspective.

it is also fun to watch, totally worth your time, you can maybe get teary if you are emotional (like me).

10/10.

The Secret (2006 Video)

this will make you think about how powerful you can actually be.
29 July 2012
I was wandering through the CD shelves in the library and The Secret Documentary caught my eye. I read the description and thought it could be something useless but at the same time the CD felt kinda interesting to find out the secret. I borrowed it and watched it as soon as I came home.

the introduction made the secret become more mysterious to captivate people's attention. and as I keep watching, I discover so many things in life that I missed out. I also discover a hidden part of myself. it felt a little bit unbelievable but the way that the authors, philosophers and physicians explain that secret is so logical that eventually persuade me to believe that there are actually miracles in the universe.
