Forst (2024)
A decent find on netflix
I am just glad that I actually decided to give this show a watch and not swipe it away because unfortunately that is the level of quality of most of the netflix's shows these days; the very thumbnails are repulsive ! However, this is a fantastic show and I was disappointed to learn that S01 ended with just six episodes..Hope new season arrives soon.
However, I hope that new season focuses more on Detective Forst's detective abilities to help him get out of the predicament he finds himself into, as we learn from one character that Detective Forst happens to be the ace detective. Better not reduce the character to mere sex and headaches.
The Flash (2023)
Borefest
I found it to be a very boring film. Time travel was done in very poor manner. If you compare it to DC's animated "flashpoint paradox" film, this film stands nowhere.
The only positive takeaways for me were Batfleck's and Keaton batman's on screen presence. As a matter of fact, after seeing both the batmen in this film, I strongly feel it'd have done wonders for DC if they had cared to make a standalone batman film with Batfleck/Keaton in lead role and Flash as a side character.
Bottomline is, by not going to watch it in theater, you won't miss out on anything.
There is still time Discovery-WB, don't let Cavill and Affleck go !!
Venom (2018)
I was hoping for the movie to wash away the negativity yet again, and it happened by a long shot !
Before I begin, I'd clarify that I'm no comic reader and the only thing I knew about Venom was that he is a Spiderman Villain and the only time I saw him before, live action or otherwise was in Raimi's Spiderman 3 but as with everybody I've been a fan of the character, and secondly I watched the film Hindi dubbed.
From past sometime, it's as if there is some kind of propoganda working against the Sony. It's understandable that it's the job of the critics to find flaws in the movie and write about them and they need to be appreciated for the work they do but the kind of Undermining articles that I read about the Venom after its screening were just too hard to believe. Plenty of things were said about the plot holes, how the comical bits impose themselves and whatnot but unless I'm a total dummy; something which I highly doubt I couldn't find one such single flaw which would have remained at the back of my head throughout the run time of the film, much less something I'd give a second thought after the movie gets over.
It was a well paced fine entertainment and infact people cheered in so many scenes where I watched the film.
As is the case with me, if I read about some film being too bad and if I happen to watch it in the theatre, the first that I do is empty my mind of all the preconceived thoughts and take one scene at a time, I failed to do that in case of The Nun because it's story was really that bad but this film had nothing of the sort. It infact immersed me completely and there was fun all along.
It could be said that the major villain Riot appeared a bit too late but even that wouldn't be the reason for me to hate the film. Action scenes are solid, chemistry between Tom Hardy and Michelle Williams isn't bad either and story is pretty good. Where do I find the hate from then, and why should I bother finding it?
They did the same thing with The Meg and it's box office collections are for everybody to see and after a few years from now, people would hail the film for being a rejuvenating film in the Shark horror department and critics will be forgotten. I'm hopeful that same would happen with Venom and who will become the turd in the wind; The venom or the critics will be for everybody to see.
My best wishes for the movie :-)
The Meg (2018)
An Entertaining flick which is worth more than 4-5 stars, even 6 !
Before I write the review I'd like to clarify that this is the first time I have decided to write a review and only because a false impression is being created that this movie is a total waste of time with many people here doing injustice to the film with their ratings.
I watched the movie last night and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I had gone to watch the film after reading the reviews here and for once even I had decided to drop the plan and save my money for an another film after seeing 2 stars in a row. Most people here have taken it out on this film because they probably set the "Jaws" or "Jurassic Park" as the benchmark here. I haven't watched Jaws and the only movie that I was expecting this film to do better than or atleast be at par with is "Deep Blue Sea". I have watched deep blue sea around 4 times now and I love that film. When I saw the rating of that film which is 5.8, I decided to watch this film and this further reinforced my belief that ratings many a times betray our individual liking of a movie. Most people are complaining about the misplaced humour in this film but even that didn't turn me off, the reason being that story of the film is engaging, there are no dull moments and shark scenes are on the money and amount of Gore has nothing to do with the thrill the Gigantic Shark(s) in the movie managed to create. I do admit that this film could have been better if the characters were shown gripped with fear and the chaos that could have emerged if the underwater establishment was shown falling apart, but despite all its flaws and for what its worth, it most definitely is a one time watch.
PS: The review is my personal opinion, invest your money at your own risk
