The Trip (2010)
A road trip film that doesn't work
I love road trip films, it's a unique genre which allows good character studies in light of a changing backdrop of places and people. So when I saw a new road trip film was out - I knew i had to see it. I'm a patient viewer and take plenty of time to allow a film to develop. This film simply does not solidify. Always waiting for something significant to be said, or to happen, but never ever does. With the final credits, you realize what a waste in the fog this film has been. The actors are probably capable, and I suspect that they must have a loyal following who would enjoy this film; other than that, this film is a waste. It is a meaningless romp thru a fog of meaningless banter which no growth, no conclusion and nothing of interest or any emotional attachment.
Was du nicht siehst (2009)
Dull story with an empty script and weak story.
Beautiful scenery and a fitting musical score accompany a weak and empty script. The film features good acting and attractive people. Set on the French Brittany coast, a mother;Luzia, her boyfriend Paul and her son Anton take a vacation to a cottage near the coast. Anton meets a very odd fellow David. This is where the story loses credibility. David is unpleasant and weird. He enjoys subjecting Anton to odd practical jokes, is violent and ominous. Anton nonetheless hangs around with David and his attractive sister Katja. The pace is incredibly slow. Dialogue is limited and weak. This is a empty script on a weak story dragged out for nearly two hours. Overall a dull story.
