The Night Agent (2023)
Pales in comparison to Bodyguard
Mediocre, at best.
I like Gabriel Basso. He's the primary reason I chose to watch this. I liked him since I first saw him in Kings of Summer, and I thought he did a great job in Hillbilly Elegy. However, nothing about that bad script gives him, or any of the other actors for that matter, anything to work with. The plot twists are mostly predictable and the dialog is a heap of clichés stacked one on top of the other.
The fact that this is about a government agent assigned to protect a female figure of national importance in a high stakes political thriller, but mostly the beginning with him stopping a terrorist attack on a train draws an immediate comparison to the acclaimed BBC show Bodyguard. However, The Night Agent pales in comparison to its British origin in every aspect. The story is less interesting, the characters and their motivation not as convincing and over-exaggerated at the same time, and their relationships weaker. And it's also missing Richard Madden's Scottish accent, but that's a terrible loss that every other show has to deal with, so you can't blame them too much for that.
The Fragile Balance: Sergei Polunin (2013)
A peak into a soul
Surprisingly touching and revealing for its extremely short duration. Purely for content I would have given an even higher rating, but I had a very hard time with the flickering of the reel - I found it very irritating and discomforting.
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (2016)
Watch another adaptation
Although surprisingly true to Austen's book, the script does not take enough advantage of the potential in it's original take on the story - comically or otherwise. Hence, it remains mostly one more adaptation, and not the best one at that. However, Matt Smith's performance is one that calls for attention and praise as it is by far the best in the movie.
Mowgli (2018)
All the beloved characters return...
Just with all the fun taken out. Also, the animals' faces are made to be more human-like in order to be more expressive, which totally wierded me out. Impressive cast that give a solid performance, though.
