Jazzclub - Der frühe Vogel fängt den Wurm. (2004)
the best film in the career of helge schneider
i think this film is schneiders best. it is not just silly German comedy like the earlier movies (texas, 00Schneider or Praxis Dr.Haselbein). The first time schneider ads critical and dramatic peaces to his work and there is also for the first time a real story which is also timed properly.
an other interesting point is that the female parts are played by real women and not in the Monty python-way by men and fat transsexuals. this picture is also photographed much better then the earlier pics. to make it short: the first real masterpiece of mr.helge schneider. he brings really new parts and sights into the new German cinema and of course in the kind of German humor which was not always a very good one. i am wondering what will come next.
Fast Film (2003)
one of the best shorts ever made
this film contains everything what a great movie should contain: a hero played by a guy like bogey, cary grant or sean connery, a beautiful girl like marylin, liz taylor or brigitte bardot and a super-evil villain like godzilla, dr.no, the creature from the black lagoon, frankenstein or dracula. a love story, a spectacular chase and a enormous good against bad- final battle the animation technique is genious and till 2003 unique in the history of filmmaking. never before somebody came to the idea of making a movie only from footage of other famous films. mr.vidrichs masterpiece. but who knows what comes next...
Wieder Holung (1998)
a great animated nightmare
This whole film is a complete nightmare. but not in a technical way. it only gives you the feeling of having a really spooky nightmare.
I think thats what film should be all all about: give us certain feelings. a big part of the mood of this picture are the completely analogue animated figures. Most of all the flickering black- and - white pencil outlines of the different figures and locations gives this kind of animation a kind of live that submits every viewer an unlikely nightmare-like feeling that stays in your stomach long after you have left the theater. I wish there would be more such great movies from my hometown
The Blues Brothers (1980)
"everybody..."
First of all: From my personal point of view this movie is one of the greatest musical comedies of all times.
But what is also very interesting about this motion picture are the excellent technical aspects, like photography, production design, cut and of course the music and live action stunts. The performance of John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd alias Jake and Elwood Blues is unique in the history of motion picture-duos. Also don't forget the guest-apearences of Ray Charles, James Brown, John Lee Hooker, Cab Calloway, John Candy, Carrie Fischer and of course Mr.Spielberg.
John Landis made never again such a great and powerful movie like this. Blues Brothers 2000 is just besides of the music a very sad and boring sequel, compared to the first masterpiece.
