It's Okay.. But Why Was This Made?
11 January 2022
Like some say, this film is watchable but don't expect much.

Unoriginal story. Badly acted. Script was all over the place... started out slow but came to the climax (at least I think?) out of nowhere. If this wasn't the climax, I don't think the movie truly had one then... the acting left a lot to be desired. I was hoping for much more storytelling and something new or different, since this story has been told in many variations.

To think, money (a lot too) was spent making this film and it's just merely "watchable". They took no risks, nothing exciting happened/or was different in this.

Save yourself a view and watch something from the 90's that was produced with more effort. Literally lookup similar movies and you'll find something, I'm sure.

Waste of Time
11 January 2022
Patrick Wilson couldn't even save this film.

Downright boring and the story was dull. The film was too jumpy and didn't stick to telling a single story. Characters were used without a complete understanding of their importance to the story. There didn't really seem to be an understanding of what story was being told, felt very confused and lost (nothing ironic there).

The screenwriters should have spent more time writing a more fleshed out script where we got to know characters a little better and casting should have spent more time getting actors who could do something with the material.

This was overall a major disappointment.

Not As Epic As Some Say
11 January 2022
Okay, let's start here... the movie was too long. Excessively long. The movie did not need to be longer than 2 hours. A good 1 hour 45-50 minutes would have been plenty of time to tell this story and give the characters their story.

With that out of the way, I thought the actors did a fantastic job at telling this story. The story was dry in places and could have been cut down (which would have helped the runtime), but the character development made sense and were portrayed well throughout the film. I'm torn about the soundtrack, a part of me feels like it was distracting at times. But then again, apart of me feels this is the directors "stamp" on their films.

Overall, the film was good; but not one I'd watch again. The story was slow and the movie was too long and therefore not epic enough to justify the runtime.

Truly funny & fun
11 January 2022
I really don't get why this film is getting so much hate, saying it's not funny or a good movie. I thought it was great, a fun story with a lot of great moments. Really funny and excellent chemistry amongst the entire cast. Obviously, if you watch the preview, the film is not geared towards just your average comedy movie goer. This movie could be consider "vulgar" to some people who are uncomfortable about this topic, and that's fine! But honestly, if you are okay with this type of humor; you'll most likely be able to enjoy the film. I thought it had a cute moral and shown woman making their way on their own, without men. It was really empowering from some degrees.

Anyway, I think this movie was a great way to remind us to slow down and not take everything so seriously. I think, often times, we all get caught up in our lives that we forget to have fun and laugh, making us seem frigid and uptight. This movie helps remind us that having fun and laughing is okay.

I would recommend this to people who like the trailer and aren't offended by conversations/jokes regarding sex/sexual activity.

Felt Rushed and Slow Simultaneously
9 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Good Film. Good storytelling for a real-life event.

The actors portrayed the pain, anguish, and conflict extremely well. Movie moved very quickly at first, almost abruptly, but then quickly came to a slow down. This film is short, but could have been maybe 15-20 minutes longer to not rush the beginning (or climax) so quickly and develop the characters/story a little better. Although this was predictable, these stories and events need to be told. In telling this stories, other survivors may be able to find their voice and stop this ugly behavior from continuing.

This story follows a priest who molested children, however this does happen, we should also tell the stories of similar situations but that happen outside of religious backgrounds since this happens outside of church as well.

Sadly, with research, the priest in real-life did not stop this ungodly behavior. After spending 10 years in prison, from the originally sentenced 20 years. He was released and moved to Texas where he was being convicted of molesting a 3 year-old boy. He admitted to molesting over 30 boys to get the 20 year sentencing.

Honestly Great! #justiceforandrewgarfield
2 January 2022
Alright, for starters, I'll say it! "The Amazing Spider-Man" movies with Andrew Garfield are superior to the Tobey Maguire "Spider-Man" films. There. That's out of the way. Trust me, I grew up with the original Maguire "Spider-Man" and the nostalgia factor keeps them close to my heart. However, substance and visual effects staying power they lack. I give it up to BOTH "The Amazing Spider-Man" movies for introducing audiences to lesser known villains. It was a risk, and most people didn't like it, but it pays off to viewers who want to appreciate something different. The acting in this film was hands down the best in any of the 5 "Spider-Man" movies to this date (therefore, not including Tom Holland's films). Garfield gives everything to this role and the story of Peter Parker is told so humanly and organically with this film. The growth in character makes sense. Not just for him, but for Gwen Stacy as well. Talk about a great change. Unlike MJ or Gwen Stacy from the Maguire films, this Gwen Stacy actually knows she is intelligent and won't allow herself to sit in a corner and be sad for 2 movies straight (sorry, not sorry - but that was literally MJ in "Spider-Man 2 & 3"). Anyway, the connection between Garfield and Stone is undeniable and incredibly relatable. I love the introduction of a "new" villain (Electro) and bringing in an "old" (known) villain (Goblin). The visual effects are beautiful and a work of art, this movie is 8 years old now and it looks like it was made this year. Now, stopping comparing them to the first Triology. These films are wonderful. Great acting. Great character development. Great stories. Great "new" (and "old") characters. Great takes on developing story arch's. Wonderful visuals. A must see film. Worst thing to say, once in a while, I felt the movie drag out scenes a little too long. But I'd say that happened, maybe 3 times throughout the whole movie. Again, this was like watching a comic book come to life and play out on screen. No characters were wasted or thrown in out of "fan service" (Gwen Stacy in original). Characters stayed true from first film to the end of this film, unlike the original Triology movies characters (who changed dramatically for story purposes only and it was jarring from an audience perspective). Overall, this is a great movie. I think #justiceforgarfieldsspiderman needs to become a trending tweet, cause honestly, he's pretty fantastic!

Felt Like Watching a Comic Book! Give it a Real Chance
2 January 2022
Really enjoyed this film. Obviously, this is a different take on Spider-Man than Maguire's or Holland's version. However, I don't see anything wrong with this version of Spider-Man. Honestly, I think this film is superior to the Maguire films; especially taking out of consideration nostalgia. First, the special effects are far superior in this film than they were in all 3 Maguire films, combined. Second, the story telling was way more in-depth and fully realized. The creators drive into Peter Parker's parents story/history. They give Aunt May & Uncle Ben a more relatable and fully realized story. The focus on how Peter Parker creates/becomes Spider-Man in a more "real" way, by showing him creating the web-shooters and costume using "real life resources", instead of in Maguire's version how he just magically made it himself with no comprehension to the audience why or how and the nonsensical bodily web-shooters lol. The relationships between the actors/characters feel organic and natural, and not at all awkward or forced like in Maguire's films. It truly felt like watching a comic book on screen rather than watching a big-budget Hollywood movie try to fame a beloved hero. This film felt like a DC/Batman movie at times, but not in a rip off way just coincidental way. Andrew Garfield gets a lot of slack for being the "lesser" Spider-Man, but honestly he was fantastic and played the character well. All of the actors played the characters well. I would strongly recommend giving this movie another chance and try to separate it from the nostalgic Tobey Maguire "Spider-Man" films. I had fun watching it and truly appreciated the hard work that went into creating this story/film.

Hear Me Out
1 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This sequel/movie comes under fire by a lot of people for not being as good as the previous two movies. Personally, I found the movie just as good as the other 2 films in this series (Spider-Man & Spider-Man 2). Just like those films, this one has its share of "cons" or drawbacks. The cons I had with this film were the Gwen Stacy characterization. I thought the way her character was written did a disgrace to the character by portraying her as a dim witted model who swoons over any man. The other issue I had with this film was the "Venom" character. I think Topher Grace did an exceptional job playing Eddie/Venom, however the storyline of Spider-Man being Venom was completely unnecessary and created very bizarre, unwatchable scenes with Tobey Maguire. Thankfully, this only took up about 20 minutes of the entire film, but it was incredibly unnecessary. I would have preferred the Venom character be told only with the Eddie/Venom storyline. Besides those 2 things, the rest of the film was pretty good (despite the special effects; largely because of the film being presented as a 3D film... lol) but all the actors continued to play the roles well and developed them naturally and organically. James Franco was probably the standout for me, him and Topher Grace had the best acting/storytelling of this film. Maguire and Dunst held their own and did well by their characters. Sandman was a great villain and his story was told very nicely, it was played well by the actor too. Howard (Gwen Stacy) did the best she could with the writing of her character. Give it a chance, it's really not a bad film. Especially, not as bad as everyone tried to make of it.

Good for a Sequel
1 January 2022
The movie was overall good, continued the story of Peter Parker/Spider-Man. All the actors did a good job continuing their characters journey and development. The villain for this film was good and portrayed well. The biggest con of this film is that it felt longer than it actually ran. Beyond that, this is a good, solid film. Fun for the family or good to watch as an adult. It's your average superhero film, filled with action, humor, and drama. Check it out.

Good Production & Nice Story
1 January 2022
Do parts of the show seem a little forced? Yes. Does the show feel manufactured? Yes. However, it's following a man "coming out" to those closest to him... obviously, it's going to be manufactured when cameras are following you around. I know he has gotten slack for a lot of his behaviors and people question his motives for "coming out" the way he did. I think people need to focus on themselves a little more and some worrying about judging other people so much. Let this man live his life, clearly he is aware he made mistakes, he isn't unaware of that, but let the dude make his own kind of redemption. The show had a lot of sweet moments, the show had important messages throughout it. The show was also short and sweet, 6 episodes; 30 minutes each. One episode was a little uncomfortable because Colton was clearly uncomfortable with what was happening and you felt that as a viewer. However, all the other episodes were great. Besides the manufactured and forced aspect, the show was great. Just as quickly as we accept the bad things people do, and ask people to accept those for who they are, we also need to remember we need to accept forgiveness and accept the ways people try to redeem themselves. No one is perfect, and casting judgements on others doesn't cleanse you of your wrongdoing either.

Underrated. Super Fun Film
1 January 2022
First, understand what you are about to see... this is not an "Oscar" film type. This is a family film, intended for children specifically. Considering that, this is a great film. A wonderful adaptation of the children's books from the 60's. The young girl is relatable and very endearing, plays the role perfectly. Everyone else plays their role well too, the characters are fully realized and develop in ways that make sense to the characters and the story. A cute, fun film that tugs at the heart to any animal lover (specifically dog lovers). The CGI of Clifford probably could have been better, but I also understand that the budget was probably lower than most films being made in 2020/2021 era with Covid-19 lurking about. I encourage people to watch this, especially with their kids. Although the story isn't 100% "original", the message is important for everyone and especially kids. Go into watching this film with and open mind and understanding the demographic that it's aiming towards and you'll appreciate it.

I truly think this film is underrated because it's a children's movie and it wasn't marketed strongly. This movie deserves redemption! Give it a shot! It's fun and cute. (I was always a fan of the books as a kid though too).

Solid Film
1 January 2022
This was the first "Spider-Man" film that I saw, years ago. I rewatched it this morning (after watching the newest "Spider-Man" film "No Where Home"). The casting was fantastic, the actors were great, the villain was great and fully developed. Some of the special effects didn't hold up too well to date, but honestly that's minor. The story was fully realized and held true to the comic books. The characters were given stories that made sense. Everything was good, a solid film overall. A fun film for kids, teenagers, or adults of any age.

Slow & Dry
31 December 2021
Honestly, I can't even tell you much about the film because so little happens in it that's interesting. The players in the film performed and executed the roles well, but the overall story was dull. Not that the story was bad, just dull. I was hoping for a little bit more mystery or thriller aspect, but it fell flat across the board. That's all I can say because it was just boring. If it wasn't for the actors, I would have rated this film "2" maximum (if I was feeling especially nice lol)

If you enjoy the film, cool! I just wasn't a fan.

Wonderful Performances
30 December 2021
Although the storytelling was a little slow and dry, the performances were definitely Oscar worthy. I didn't see any of the actors as themselves, I only saw the characters/people they were portraying. I don't blame the storytellers for being a little slow or dry, because the story itself isn't the most thrilling, exciting, or complex story. Going into the film knowing and understanding that, you'll enjoy and appreciate the film more. Michael, Kate, Seth, and Jeff were are perfectly cast and gave excellent performances in their respective roles. Would definitely recommend viewing this if you are someone who enjoys a slower film that goes behind the story of real life events.

Wow. Just, wow!
30 December 2021
This film packs a major punch.

Would strongly recommend this film to anyone.

I typically like "period" piece films and since this is set in the 40's, it was right up my alley.

The performances were exceptional and brilliant. James McAvoy & Kiera Knightley are wonderful and relatable, they captivated audiences with their chemistry and likability.

The storytelling was breathtakingly beautiful, and had a sense of mystery in a dram-romance genre.

Although I have not read the book, from what I read this film adapts the books flawlessly.

I walked out of this film speechless and wanting to read the book, so I purchased the book.

Please watch this film, you won't be disappointed.

Great Reimagined Remake
30 December 2021
Beautifully shot. A very pretty movie that stays very true to the original book. A good adaptation of the book and of the original Alfred Hitchcock movie. This film provides the ending that the original film could not due to studio preventing the original ending from being shown. This ending reflects the ending of the book. All actors provide wonderful, fully realized performances. Would recommend watching this film to anyone. Despite being a good film, I wouldn't rate it higher because I wouldn't consider this a film that I'd watch over and over, again and again; but the film was very good. Had good moments of suspense and mystery throughout the film.

Andrew Garfield is Brilliant in this Role
30 December 2021
Wonderful performances from actors. Great storytelling. Honestly, the only reason I don't want to rate the movie higher it because I would have preferred a truer diversity in casting. Andrew Garfield was the heart of this movie and made it special, I would have preferred an actor true to the ethnicity of the character/person. Besides that, Jesse Eisenberg was hatable, which is good since I don't think your supposed to like Mark Zuckerberg. All of the acting performances are great. Would recommend this film to anyone who like learning about "real life" events. Armie Hammer playing twins is fantastic, he does a great job of giving each twin their own identity and character with character development. Justin Timberlake is incredible unlikable, but provides a full performance.

Pretentious
30 December 2021
I don't get it. I don't need to get it. Personally, I gave it about an hour before I turned it off. Was boring and had a very slow build up. The build up was anti-climatic and unsatisfactory. Not that great, original story but not told very interestingly. The film was just hoity-toity garbage. Tried to have this deep meaning that was too obvious from the moment the movie began, which made it less interesting.

Perfectly Adequate
30 December 2021
Lovely film with a heartfelt meaning, but nothing overly special about it. Similar stories have been told. Reminiscent of a "Dead Poets Society" but not quite as good. Acting was okay, cinematography was okay. Overall, the film was okay. Thankfully, it was a short enough film; if it was any longer it would have been unwatchable.

Meh
29 December 2021
Couldn't finish the movie. Overall, found the movie boring considering that it's based on a traumatic true story of being stranded in the ocean. The film held no anxious or intense moments, that I was expecting. The actors did a fine job, I preferred the lead male characters acting. The leading lady sounded more obnoxious and whiny than scared and worried throughout the movie. There are better movies that tell similar stories out there. Watch "Cast Away", it's less boring and more entertaining and it was less actors in it haha!

Make It Stop
29 December 2021
Terrible story. Barely any likable characters, portrays the gay community as a bunch of narcissistic, terrible people with no redeeming qualities. Acting was okay, at best. I do appreciate that most (if not all) of the actors were being portrayed by members of the LGBTQ+ community instead it straight men playing these characters. The film seemed to promote the use of slanderous vocabulary between homosexuals, just because. Was uninspiring and cliche. Don't waste your time. Zachary Quinto (Harold) was great and Robin de Jesus (Emory) was fantastic, beyond that performances seemed forced, bland, and not fully realized.

Okay Story; Tom Holland's Acting Saves the Movie - But Overall, Unoriginal and Too Long
29 December 2021
Starting with the good aspects of the movie: Tom Holland's acting was superb (especially since typically I only see him as a young, high school guy). This role was completely different for him and he did a wonderful job acting it out. The other positive aspect of this film was that it was beautifully shot, the Russo Brothers really know how to make a beautiful looking movie.

Unfortunately, these 2 aspects do not make a great film. The story is one that has been told in other films before, so it lacks originality. There was not much diversity in the characters/actors either, which is always saddening. 2 white leading actors was unnecessary to tell this story, especially since there are better actresses that could have acted the leading ladies role to help build the story and make the audience connect with them on a deeper level. The lead actress was generic and was truly uninspiring. The storytelling was LONG and excessive. This film could, and would have been so much better at a runtime of 110 minutes (1 hour, 40 minutes) rather than dragging out unnecessary storytelling for 145 minutes (2 hours, 25 minutes). In that extra time, the characters didn't develop a stronger arch and the story didn't become more complex/interesting, instead I found myself bored and scrolling on my phone from not being captivated by the story and zoning out. Personally, I'd say save your time and watch another film. This was unoriginal and excessive in runtime. I appreciate the story itself, because it is important to share these issues and shed light on substance abuse and PTSD, but the there was nothing new about this story.
