Chernobyl: Vichnaya Pamyat (2019)
Entirely captivating through and through.
One of the best episodes of TV I've ever seen. From the get go till the very end it is entirely captivating. It shows the trial of Chernobyl, and somehow even makes it more fascinating. Every aspect is a 10. Great work to everyone involved!
Game of Thrones: Eastwatch (2017)
A slow-paced, lackluster episode with weak writing.
This episode was to be expected. Last week we had an excellent, grand battle which contained a multitude of very expensive shots as Drogon stole the spotlight. This week, however, contains nothing of the sort (like I said, expected). Although we didn't get anything like last week, I was blown away by the writing. It was weak, to say the least. The script was terrible, repetitive and the acting fell short (the writer is at fault, not the actors). The episode is a set up for next week, which looks incredible.
It wasn't a terrible episode. There were some nice set-pieces, minor revelations and built an exciting foundation for the episodes to come. I look forward to next week.
Ash vs Evil Dead: Books from Beyond (2015)
The best episode yet - excellent crafting from start to finish!
Possible MINOR spoilers ahead! Episode 3 of 'Ash VS Evil Dead' sees Ash and his gang inside a bookstore trying to unsummon the Evil Dead through passages inside the Book of the Dead by the store owner. While trying to undo what was done by Ash, the store owner reads a passage in an attempt to do so. That is the plot of this episode, but do not be fooled for there is plenty to love. We get a, albeit short, look into a mysterious new character. The script is good, as expected, as the banter continues and funny lines are said throughout. As well as this, we see a new form of enemy that is insanely well done - whether it was make up or CGI it looked excellent, very scary indeed! The action in this episode is flawlessly done, very impressive for a TV show budget and on a whole, this is the best episode yet that Ash VS Evil Dead has to offer. I can't wait for the next!
Annabelle (2014)
A whole lot of nothing.
I went into the cinemas expecting to see an average horror film, since the Conjuring surpassed my expectations and included genuine scares. Wow, was I disappointed. This film's first hour lacks any content - almost absolutely nothing happens. When things do get amped up, it only happens in one scene and for a couple of minutes. The relationship between John and Mia doesn't exist - they're a couple yet the scenes between them are awkward; the acting is atrocious in this film. The so called horror scenes are generic, cheesy and short-lived, toppled with repetitive music we've heard time from time. Legitimately half this film (no joke) is wasted on slow zoom ups on Annabelle's face. And of course, this film just had to have an irrelevant scene of a girl in a white dress with long black hair - have western movies not gotten past the whole concept of the Ring? Stop obsessing over that idea and make your own!! This film lacked content, acting, a story line, characters I gave a crap for and genuine scares. Waste of money.
Doragon Bôru Zetto Kami to Kami (2013)
Amazing? No. A lot of fun? Yes.
Do not listen to user Mark Connor. Only Vegeta and Goku are properly utilized, mainly Goku. To me, the plot wasn't all that interesting and the enemy never seemed like a threat. Bills, the enemy, the God of Destruction, never had intentions of blowing up Earth, making Goku have zero motive to fight him. The only person who had a motive to him was Vegeta. There is only one paced fight scene throughout the entire movie and it ends awfully quickly. The animation and CGI, however, are flawless, despite some minor inconsistencies. This isn't the best DBZ movie, no where close in my opinion, but it is still a lot of fun. It is more reminiscent of Dragon Ball than Dragon Ball Z. If you're expecting a deep and profound movie, you will be disappointed, however, the film still is a great nostalgic trip.
The Blair Witch Project (1999)
Incredibly disappointing.
*May contain spoilers* The movie was less than descent. The acting was superb, story was solid and the idea was great. However, this is a giant let-down. The movie builds up so much suspense for an entire hour, only to be shown nothing of the 'entity'. The only thing that relates to horror was the yelling and placement of witchcraft objects around their tents. This is yet another film that builds up an incredible amount of suspense for almost the whole movie but is just utter garbage when the movie come's to it's conclusion. The final scene is of one of the main protagonists staring at the ceiling. Really? You're going to build up so much suspense yet conclude your story with a man being retarded and staring at the wall. I'd rather scenes that'd make you jump than what I witnessed in The Blair Witch Project. I highly do not recommend this to horror fans because like I stated before, this move is all talk yet no action.
