Lady Driver (2020)
Nothing ground breaking but not a flop either
There's nothing new or ground breaking here. The acting isn't great and it's one big trope the whole way through, but it's truly not a terrible movie.
Double Teamed (2002)
Terrible dad drives the plot
The whole movie comes solely out of the father's selfish decision making that he writes off as "it's for my daughters." The sisters come off as hateful towards each other, not just sibling rivalry. It's jarring when they suddenly get along or show affection towards one another.
Chernobyl Diaries (2012)
Not the worst, no where near the best.
I hate having movies where you can see every little "jump-scene" coming. With this movie, it was right from the beginning. When they show the fish, both times, you know what's going to happen. The first time, you know it will show some sort of life, the second you know they'll either eat, or attempt to eat the guy when he falls into the water. As Yuri walks around, you have the knowledge of the gun and that there are "creatures" outside the van. I looked to my friends, said, "He shoots the gun, but dies." Take a gander at the after math. Subsequently, two of the tourists die, what a shock being the SWEET HEARTS. You could literally sit there and pick out what order they would die in. First the big tough guy, then the love birds, and you could go down the list. Stereotypical. Then as we watch towards the end, as the "developing-love-interests" try to survive, as they are the last ones left, big shock there (sarcasm), they RUN. THROUGH. CHERNOBYL. Apparently if you run through a spa system, you can connect to a nuclear reactor? Then they cop out with the guy getting shot (Can anyone reference Quarantine for me?) and have the last character, the girl (STEREOTYPICAL), get thrown into a room with what the doctors call "patients." Watch that scene. It mad me want to break something.
Alright, so there were some things they did well. They kept you going with little scenes. The city which the older brother, the guy from the developing love interest, lives in, is actually well developed, as far as I'm concerned. With the few scenes they have in it, you get a taste of the culture there. You see the bar, the back streets. The scene with the thugs truly helped me to believe that this movie may end up being decent, but you know otherwise.
All in all, it's a great date night movie, but a terrible movie to watch if you want to see a movie with the guys (or girls).
