Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre (2023)
Loved this!
Whilst it is what it is as a formulaic spy comedy, it does it fantastically. Jason Statham delivers another text book Statham performance. If it's not broke don't fix it, but the star of this for me is Hugh Grant. His comedy, slightly camp portrayal of an arms dealer is absolute acting genius. I loved this film, it's great escapist popcorn entertainment, exactly what a film should be. Sometimes people get sniffy about this genre but, whilst the odd deep thinking film is OK, I don't watch movies for that, I watch them to escape the drudgery of life and this film left me smiling at the end, sim achieved.
Fear Street: 1994 (2021)
Awful.
Chaotic, disjointed and cliched. This is all over the place. Weirdly it's an 18, but I'd say it only will really appeal to those around 15.
Don't waste your time on this.
The Haunting of Bly Manor (2020)
Marred by poor acting
It's not a bad story but the acting and production is awful. It's spoiled so much by that.
Code 404 (2020)
Potential?
It's early days and a bit raw but I do think it has promise. The humour is good, it just needs sharper stories but I do live the actors. Mays is great but Stephen Graham is really good!
Sense8 (2015)
Too full of itself
Definitely one for the millennial. The story gets lost in the glitzy production.
