Tooken (2015)
Probably one of the better spoofs
Let me start by saying that I started hating spoof movies around the time epic movie and date movie came out. In fact the creators of those movies are making a spoof of Taken as well. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3749816/?ref_=nm_flmg_wr_1
It will likely be terrible but this movie is just a fun ride. There isn't as much toilet humor or gross out humor as I expected. Has some really funny jokes and creative ideas. Actually has a half decent budget and isn't filmed over a long weekend like a Seltzer spoof. This movie was already down voted before it even came out of the studio. I really don't think that's fair since everyone who gave this a 1 probably never even seen it. But then again that's IMDb for you. All in all I didn't bust a gut laughing, but at least I didn't pop a vessel in my head. Like one would do during an Aaron Seltzer movie.
Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)
Joss Whedon, I hope you're happy
This movie is what's wrong with Hollywood, It's overlong, pretentious, terribly paced, has one of the cheesiest openings that I've ever seen in a blockbuster with every hero mugging for the camera while they charge into battle, and is probably the most over hyped blockbuster ever made. This is coming from someone who loved the first movie. This movie seemed like it was cut from a cookie mold and sold to the masses as if it were some sort of "hip new age drug" when all it manages to do is make me feel embarrassed for everyone involved.
This is probably my least favorite blockbuster of all time, I wish I could go back in time and warn my previous self to never watch this pile of garbage. I regret paying for this movie on opening night more so than paying to watch Wild Wild West, and I even got a public apology from the main actor of THAT movie for going to see it!
This movie is a complete mess and a waste of time. You can argue all you want and troll all you want, but deep down inside you truly know this movie is utter drivel and nonsense. This movie doesn't even seem like it was made by the people involved with the first. The jokes are terrible and there are so many, which the first didn't suffer from, the main villain was a joke, Every hero tries to get the same amount of screen time almost like they're fighting over who gets to mug the camera more, and to top it all off we have the egos of Chris Hemsworth and other actors to cope with.
I get that Winter Soldier and Thor: The Dark World were big hits in theaters, but to me they reeked of what this movie has to offer. In fact those movies remind me of this movie so much that I had to look back at the main door to make sure I wasn't in the wrong movie a couple of times. If this is what passes for entertainment nowadays, then I fear for what's going to be passed off to us in the next couple years to come. Hopefully the DCU movies will stray away from this type of formula and come up with something original, but I don't see that happening.
This is what happens when a children's company buys your IP and decides to run it into the ground Marvel! Do you not remember the amazing mess of The Weekenders meets Spiderman from your Ultimate Spiderman cartoon. In fact with the jokes happening and cutting to other heroes who was to mug the camera, this movie reminds me a lot of The Weekenders. So basically you did it to two of your IP now....
All in all, if you want to turn your brain off and come out of the theater like you just pounded back a 40 of liquor.. Then this movie I suppose is for you? But if you want something more out of the movies you watch, then don't waste your time with this nonsense. I'm ashamed to have seen this movie and I feel bad for Joss Whedon because I know he's capable of so much more. Just had to sell out to Hollywood didn't you Joss?
The Cinema Snob Movie (2012)
What to expect when you are expecting gold (Hooker with a heart of-variety)
So this movie is the movie that finally usurps the shawshank redemption in the IMDb top 250 ratings? Interesting to say the least. After watching paranoia and all of Brad's other "quality" films i can say without a doubt that this movie Isn't THAT good. At least this movie has commentary tracks from 3 different sources which is more than most homemade films offer. Also it's good to see that it was handled by a more professional team than most of the other Brad Jones films. But still this fanboy-ism (not a word but should be) needs to stop. We all seen this when the dark knight rises came out as well which was only really an OK flick. I'm not even sure if all the people in that excited category are real people on this page. Like when you look at independent films and all the comments and threads on release day are obviously people who worked on the film itself. Not saying Brad would do something like that to draw attention to his film cause i'm sure that type of stuff irritates him as well but at least two of them are probably people making multiple accounts. Still as a whole the lighting was good and scenes really work when they work, except for some over saturation in the park scenes this was excellently shot. But come on now? A perfect 10? Be serious now people cause that stuff just ain't right. Didn't hate it but also felt amateurish but like I said it is still miles above "hooker with a heart of gold" or "paranoia" which is the only one i should be comparing it to since it was the only one that was actually sold on DVD as well. This is miles above all Brads other movies and deserves to be watched if you are a fan. Well done script that could have been executed better but did not disappoint with technical prowess far above and beyond anything seen in paranoia. I like that it tries to be not just for fans and tries to be it's own self contained movie. I can see what everyone who worked on it was going for but yeah if you aren't already a fan then you aren't gonna enjoy this.
What to Expect When You're Expecting (2012)
What to expect when your expecting a turd sandwich?
What can I say about this comedy the creators clearly didn't care about? Well it exists.. Its generic.. It has celebrities that were considered the top of their game and attractive 10+ years ago? Other than that there really isn't much to say about the characters in this movie. Everyone does things and to be honest i had to slap myself in the face a couple times to even stay awake during its runtime. Which clocks in at about 110 minutes but feels like 4 hours. Is it the worst generic comedy filled with female celebrities past their prime that I've seen? No, but its somewhere in the middle. Its pretty ironic that the best acting in this movie comes from the person i hate the most. Jenny on the block actually displays some rather nice scenes and is way easier to relate to than any of the other actresses. Would i ever recommend this movie to anyone? No, but if your valium bottle is empty and when it comes out on video you might as well rent it to help you through a warm summer night of insomnia.
