Missing (2023)
Missing Review
I rarely love films like this but MISSING keeps you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. You think you know what's going to happen, and then consistently you're wrong as the story takes turn after turn getting more and more complicated as it goes. The plot follows June Allen, a teenager who tries to find her missing mother after she disappears on vacation in Colombia with her new boyfriend. Actors/actresses were outstanding and all did a great job. The twists were amazing and I fully enjoyed watching the story unfold on the screen. 8/10 would watch again and recommend it. I have never seen the 1st installment.
Saw X (2023)
Best sequel in the franchise??
Saw is back after countless bad sequels they finally give one that delivers on all levels. The traps are gruesome, inventive, and totally squirm-inducing, while Tobin Bell is at his sweetly tender best as John Kramer, delivering a side of the man rarely hinted it in previous films. Saw X (2023) Set between the events of the first two films, John Kramer (Bell) travels to Mexico in hopes an experimental procedure may cure him. Before long, however, the operation is proven to be a hoax, leading him to enact an elaborate and gruesome revenge on those responsible. This film not only pays homage to its roots but also revitalizes the narrative arc, making a compelling case for its spot in the franchise's lore. It's a testament to the storytelling prowess embedded in the series and leaves us yearning for more. Here's hoping Saw X's brilliance heralds a sequel, keeping us on the edge of our seats next October!
Totally Killer (2023)
One of the best of 2023 so far
The title of this review doesn't say much for 2023 but its good for this movie. A girl goes back in time to the 80s to prevent her mother's death. Back to the future meets scream in this incredibly funny and entertaining movie. They equally poked fun at both generations and was very clever in the delivery of the on time jokes. I love a who done it type of film. My only negative to the movie was the killer reveal itself. It was pretty predictable. Kiernan Shipka is superb and carries this movie well as the lead. Great supporting cast as well. It's hard to make a solid scary movie mixed with comedy. I highly recommend watching!
Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984)
It's Christmas Time
"Santy Claus only brings presents to them that's been good all year. All the other ones, all the naughty ones, he punishes. What about you, boy? You been good all year?"
Silent Night, Deadly Night is the best version of this movie that I can imagine. If you love Christmas terror slashers than this one's for you.
Love Hard (2021)
Great start to the holiday season
I have a weakness for the romantic comedy genre. Great movie to watch with your significant other on a Friday night. A funny romantic comedy with a true to the heart message.
Jungle Cruise (2021)
Johnson and Blunt deliver
A great family night movie. Both leads live up to the hype and do a great job. Movie brings you on a fun adventure and has some twists and turns.
Willy's Wonderland (2021)
Cheesy fun
This is horror cheese at its finest. Movie never tried to be something its not and I respect that. NIC CAGE quickly becoming one of my alltime favorites. He is on fire as of late and I hope he keeps taking risks. You have to be a fan of this type of film to enjoy it and its right up my alley.
The Suicide Squad (2021)
We got what we deserved
This is what suicide squad was supposed to be. Fun from start to finish. High octane action and the comedy was spot on. John Cena really was a stand out character which was quite a surprise. I want more peace maker and I did not think I was going to say that. Everyone did a great job here and even Stallone out his touch as king shark.
Buddy Games (2019)
Not as bad as the reviews say
I was quite surprised on how low the ratings were here. While this was not a top level comedy it was a fun entertaining film. Not alot of laugh out loud but more of giggle moments. I thought it was worth the watch.
A Classic Horror Story (2021)
Ok
The movie has ups and downs. I was expecting a gore festival when I heard people talking about this movie. It had its moments and reminded me of 4 or 5 other movies rolled into this one. Guess that was kinda the point they were going for. Worth a one time view.
The Resort (2021)
Fast-forward to the last 15 minutes
This movie was close to getting a 1 star. I almost shut it off. I am glad I watched the last 15 minutes which was actually decent. You can totally skip this movie altogether.
Tom Segura: Ball Hog (2020)
Expected more
Listen I will not say this didn't make me laugh out loud. The finale joke probably had me laughing the most. However being a fan of Tom he has had much better performances then this. Still a decent stand up special.
The Hunt (2020)
Betty Gilpin
I could not believe how much I loved her in this movie. Her character alone is worth the watch. Some good kill scenes and a fun ride throughout.
Castle Freak (1995)
Shockingly Great
I had very low expectations coming in. I was scrolling through my shudder app and came across. I really have no idea why I clicked but I am now a Stuart Gordon fan and click on all movies cause this movie taught me I never know when I am going to find that hidden gem.
Castle Freak (2020)
Not as good as the original but good enough
They really went for it in this remake of Gordon's Castle Freak. It was a little over the top but entertaining. Gave you some good gore and lots of sex. You really have to be a fan of this type of cheese to rate this any higher then a 3. Right up my alley.
Old (2021)
One of M. Night Shyamalan better films
I enjoyed this one from start to finish. It had enough turns brilliantly placed to keep me interested throughout. Some are trashing this ending but I found it satisfying.
Nightbreed (1990)
Up and Down
Not quite the classic some rave about but worth the watch if you are into the late 80s early 90s type of horror movie.
The Conjuring (2013)
It's a little bit The Amityville Horror, a little bit Poltergeist, and a little bit The Exorcist, but it's definitely it's own movie and it's pretty damn great.
This is a movie about sideburns.
One of the best horror movies post 2000. Perfect amount of plot, jump scares, great visuals, love the RI setting and the history. A great example of horror done right.
Evil Dead II (1987)
Certainly 1 of a kind
This is a one of a kind flick. Silly humor shocking scenes keep your attention for sure.
Zombieland (2009)
Forgot how fun this movie was
Honestly I am not into rewatching movies. I was bored at home and seen this on netflix and remembered I enjoyed this the first time around. 8 out of 10 stars the cast is great and perfectly placed in each role. Fun and gore lie await for those who choose this on a boring hot summer day.
Death Note (2017)
Its not so bad
Sure the acting is not perfect, the plot has some holes but for christ sakes this movie is fun. I started reading all the bad reviews while on the fence about giving this movie a go. Sure enough people just dont know how to appreciate the things they say make this so bad actually makes it so good. I wont give you any spoilers but please give it a try.
