The Love Boat (1977)
Love Gavin McLoad
Pick any episode of "THE LOVE BOAT", and have IMDb.com launched on your computer. Be prepared to spend several hours looking up each actor who appears in that episode. You'll be amazed at the actors who became big in the late part of the 1970's and early 1980's who turn up. I was surprised to see actors who worked together in ONE show, turn up together on "THE LOVE BOAT" There's a classic episode where Florence Henderson, and Robert Reed, of "Brady Bunch" fame, appear together, but NOT in the same story line. They pass each other in a buffet line, and do "the classic double-take". Clever writing, on someone's part.
Plus, many stars from the past got a shot at some screen time, courtesy of "THE LOVE BOAT".
Were the stories predictable? Yes.
++POSSIBLE Spoilers!++ The format for each show was painfully similar. In the first few moments we meet the passengers. Usually, there were three stories that we followed thru the cruise. By the second commercial break, some sort of problem or trouble appears in each tale, and we see the folks involved work thru their issues, and after the last commercial, everybody disembarks with a smile, and the happy Pacific Princess crew have a clever line to close the show. Some episodes were a bit different, but not by much.
Suing the Devil (2011)
Suing the Devil
I have to say I was pleasantly surprised and really touched by this film. Rebecca St. James and Shannen Fields did a wonderful job as well as the actors who played lawyers in the movie, but I have to say one particular guy stood out in this movie for me. Dennis Cole, the guy who played the devil's lawyer, did an amazing job. The emotions he displayed, especially the scene when he was giving opening statement brought out emotions in me I never knew I had. He made you feel the pain that his character was feeling, it was such a powerful scene for him to have pulled off beautifully. I know we will be seeing more of him, and he is going to be recognized very soon as the strong talented actor he is, he has a great future going for him.
This film whether you are religious or not, tugs at your heart, it makes you want to be a better person. It's a shame because I think a lot of people won't give this film a try because they will think of it as just some religious movie, but it is so much more than that. This movie has everything, laughter, tears and excitement. I really am glad I decided to give this movie a try, it is well worth it!!! I give it 5 stars!!
Law & Order: Criminal Intent (2001)
Good cop show i npieces
Vincent D'Onofrio, Kathryn Erbe, Jamey Sheridan, and Courtney B. Vance shine as they give performances that supercede those given on "NYPD Blue." Like the cast on "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," D'Onofrio, Erbe, Sheridan and Vance feed off each other as if they were veterans working together for a long time.
One of the biggest reasons It is especially fun to watch D'Onofrio's character Bobby Goren at work as he uses deductive reasoning combined with his great intellect to pick out the perpetrator. D'Onofrio gives insightful performances with each episode he stars.
Like their co-star, Erbe, Sheridan and Vance are welcome additions to an already wonderful series, who each bring their own unique brand of style and talent to their respective roles, a quality that sets them apart from other crime drama casts.
Quality writing and riveting performances set "Law And Order: Criminal Intent" far apart from the other crime dramas on television. Each episode is riveting, written with intelligence, and contains characters with great depth. "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" is one of only a few crime dramas that contains all of these elements. I will always set aside one hour every week to watch "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" when the writing is this good.
